  • Archaeology investigation planned at Trimble’s Gatewood Plantation

    The Oldham County History Center will be hosting an Archaeology Investigation from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016. This is a continuing investigation at the Gatewood Plantation, located west of Bedford at the end of Fairgrounds Road, in Trimble County. The Gatewood Plantation was the last place where Henry Bibb was a slave before gaining freedom by escaping north. He later moved to Ipswich, Canada, where he became the first black editor of a Canadian newspaper.

    Each team pours the cups FULL
    Pick up the tray and adjust to holding with ONE hand
    Step on Starting line.
    Member 1 walks to the center and transfers to Member 2.
    Member 2 walks to the end and transfers to Member 3.
    Member 3 walks back to the center and transfers to Member 4.
    Member 4 walks to the starting line, sets the tray down and pours what is left in his/her cup into a bucket.

    The 2016 Trimble County Apple Festival is just around the corner and all area bakers young and old are encouraged to get ready for the Apple Pie Contest. This year’s Apple Festival dates are Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 10 & 11.
    Judging for the Apple Pie Contest will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10, at 11:00 a.m. at the New Life Assembly of God Church, located at 112 Hwy 42E in Bedford.
    Rules for the Apple Pie Contest are as follows:
    1. One entry per person

    Trimble County Public Library has a new director. Her name is Dena Riley. Dena is originally from the state of Idaho. Family obligations brought her to Kentucky. Riley holds a B.S. in General Education from the University of Idaho. She also has a M.S. in Library Sciences from U.K.
