  • Fiscal court okays new elevator contract

    The members of Trimble County Fiscal Court voted Monday to approve a maintenance contract with Kone Incorporated for the courthouse elevator. The county had been paying $301.17 each quarter for maintenance. The county agreed to a maintenance upgrade at a cost of $355.92 per quarter with additional coverage provided by the maintenance contractor.

    “With the years that it’s been there it would probably be wise to move up to that,” Trimble County Judge-Executive Jerry Powell said, “because it’s not cheap when they come.”

  • Milton seeks to fill commissioner seat

  • Bedford Commission fighting sewer issues

    The Bedford City Commission voted Monday, Feb. 17, to start sending a sewer bill to the Bedford Fire Department.

    Commissioner Darrell Harmon had reported during the government body’s January meeting that the department does not pay for sewer or garbage. Harmon said the Kentucky Public Service Commission advised the city several years ago that everyone, including the Morgan Community Center, should be charged for sewer service.

  • Locals on UK Dean’s List

    The University of Kentucky has released its Dean›s List for the Fall 2013 semester.  A total of 5,887 students were recognized for their outstanding academic performance.
    To make a Dean’s List in one of the UK colleges, a student must earn a grade point average of 3.6 or higher and must have earned 12 credits or more in that semester, excluding credits earned in pass-fail classes.  Some UK colleges require a 3.5 GPA to make the Dean’s List.

  • Clerk’s office closing early

    Trimble County Clerk Tina Browning’s office will close for one-half day on Tuesday, Feb. 25, enabling the staff to attend training with the State Board of Elections in Frankfort. The clerk’s office will open at 1:30 p.m. on that day.

  • Sen. Hornback legislative forum Saturday at 9 a.m.

    State Senator Paul Hornback will be at the Trimble County Fiscal Court meeting room Saturday, Feb. 8, from 9 - 10:30 a.m. to brief constituents on the 2014 legislative session. This forum is free and open to all.

  • Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) applications due Nov. 12 - Dec. 19

    Applications for the Low income Heating Energy Assistance Program subsidy for the winter of 2013-14 will be taken from Tuesday, Nov. 12 to Thursday, Dec. 19, at the Tri-County Community Action Agency, 3240 Hwy. 421N at the Trimble County Park. Applications will be received daily from 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. excluding holidays, according to Pamela Sage, Trimble County Coordinator.
