  • Apostolic Pentecostal Church of the Living God to celebrate 16th anniversary, Aug. 15

    The Apostolic Pentecostal Church of the Living God, 124 Smith Lane, Bedford, will be celebrating their 16th Anniversary service and the District Fellowship Meeting of the ALJC, Saturday, August 15th at 6:00 p.m.

  • Milton Methodist yard sale is this weekend

    The Milton United Methodist Church will host a community antique, collectibles and yard sale tomorrow and Saturday. The sale will begin at 8 a.m. each day. The yard sale will be held in the parking lot of the church. Local residents are encouraged to call 502-663-1043 to reserve space as spaces may sell out. There will be free activities for your kiddos while you browse sale items. There will be food and refreshments available, including an ice cream social. The church is located at 11100 Hwy 421N on the Milton hilltop.

  • State making ‘positive strides’ in education

    There is a saying that you can’t know where you are going until you know where you have been. That’s especially true when it comes to our schools.
    Since education represents the single-largest category in state spending – more than half of every dollar when you include our public colleges and universities – the General Assembly understandably keeps a close eye on its progress, and with a two-year budget to enact in 2016, now is a good time for a more comprehensive review.

    The following Trimble County residents were named to the University of Kentucky Dean’s List for the Spring 2015 Semester: Conner Ball, freshman majoring in Chemical Engineering; Robert Taylor Brooks, a sophomore Chemical Engineering major; Richelle Marie Cassell, a sophomore majoring in Biology; Brandi Lynn Chappell, a senior Kinesiology major; Olivia Morgan Daugherty, a senior Economics major; Sara Kate Long, a junior majoring in Animal Sciences; Travis Glenn Peters, a first-year Pharmacy student; and Colyn Guyn True, a sophomore majoring in Human Nutrition.

  • Madison ceremony will honor veterans of WWII

    The Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison will pay tribute to World War II veterans at a service planned for 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 16, 2015.
    The service is part of an international effort to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II in 1945.
    The event honors all World War II veterans and memorializes the approximately half million U.S. service members who lost their lives during the war.
    All World War II veterans and their families are invited to be guests of honor at the service.
