  • Community Thanksgiving meal

    The community Thanksgiving dinner on November 22 is coming together nicely, organizers say. Eight churches from Bedford and Milton will prepare and serve the food. Numerous volunteers have expressed their willingness to help set up and clean afterward.

  • Thanks-Giving at Milton Christian

    The Milton Christian Church on 35 School Hollow Road wants to “Give Thanks” to the Lord by serving Him in serving others and we would like to give you that opportunity as well. We will be opening the church building Monday through Friday, Nov. 14 through Nov. 18 at the listed hours, for the community to come and get free clothing and any other items that may be on hand.

    At the end of the event (Friday at 3p.m.) the items will be boxed up and given to a free store that will give the rest of the items away. Nothing will be sold to make money.

    30 Years Ago (Nov. 19, 1981)

    Sondra Rodgers, movie actress and Trimble County native, was hospitalized after a mugging near her Hollywood, Calif. home.

    Work will be beginning on 7.5 miles of sewer system for the town of Bedford tomorrow, Nov. 20. The system is financed, Mayor James D. Black said, by a $1,100,000 EPA grant, supplemented by a $525,000 government loan, and an additional $52,000 FHMA loan was obtained to assist low income people whose incomes were not sufficient to hook onto the system.

    When the General Assembly opens the 2012 Regular Session in early January, there is no doubt what the top issue will be: enacting the state’s budget for the next two years.  Redrawing state House, Senate and congressional districts, something done after each Census, will likely be prominent as well, especially in the session’s opening weeks.

  • Harold, Stethen to wed May 10

    Mary Kaitlin Herald, Milton, and Andrew Stethen, Bedford, have announced their engagement to be married.

    Mary is the daughter of Lori Taylor and Mike Herald. Andrew is the son of Mike and Donna Stethen.

    The wedding is to be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 10, 2012, at the Persimmon Ridge Golf Course, Louisville.

    Melinda McKee Clyde of Cynthiana, Ky. and Christopher Noel Greenwood of Milton, Ky. exchanged vows Saturday, July 2, 2011 at Cynthiana Presbyterian Church. Rev. Patrick Laney officiated the ceremony.

    The TCHS Cheerleaders would like to invite everyone to a 31 Purse Party in the high school cafeteria from 3:30-6:30.

    Trimble County Historical Society will meet at 1 p.m. in the Kentucky Room at the Trimble County Public Library. All members are urged to attend as election of new officers will be held.

  • State police to conduct traffic safety checkpoints

    The Kentucky State Police will be conducting traffic safety checkpoints in the counties of Oldham, Trimble, Henry, Owen, Carroll and Gallatin during the period of Nov. 21 – Dec. 5, 2011.

    The intent of a traffic safety checkpoint is to provide for high visibility public safety service, focusing on vehicular equipment deficiencies, confirming appropriate registration of vehicles and the licensing of drivers.  Violations of law or other public safety issues that arise shall be addressed in accordance with Kentucky traffic and regulatory laws.
