  • Milton Dept. receives grant

    During emergencies, it is vital that firefighters have the tools to do their job effectively and efficiently. Communication is key to coordinating operations and ensuring the department performs well as a team and stays safe. Now, thanks to a $20,000 grant awarded by Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company, the Milton Fire Department will have new state-of-the-art communication equipment.

  • KSP plans checkpoints

    The Kentucky State Police will be conducting traffic safety checkpoints in the counties of Oldham, Trimble, Henry, Owen, Carroll and Gallatin during the period of May 21 - June 4, 2012.

    The intent of a traffic safety checkpoint is to provide for high visibility public safety service, focusing on vehicular equipment deficiencies, confirming appropriate registration of vehicles and the licensing of drivers.  Violations of law or other public safety issues that arise shall be addressed in accordance with Kentucky traffic and regulatory laws.
     

  • Firemen respond to Culls Ridge blaze

    Volunteer firefighters from four fire departments worked a structure fire at a residence on Culls Ridge Road late Monday.

    At 10:32 p.m., firefighters from the Bedford Fire Department and Milton Fire & Rescue were dispatched to the home of Charles E. Tisdale, 1108 Culls Ridge Road. When firefighters arrived on the scene with their equipment they found the residence fully engulfed in fire.

  • 3 injured in Milton area accidents

    Kentucky State Police investigated two personal injury accidents in the north end of Trimble County last week. KSP was assisted at the scene of both accidents by the Trimble County Emergency Medical Services, Milton Fire & Rescue and the Bedford Fire Department.

    At 10:24 a.m. on Wednesday, May 9, emergency responders were dispatched to the scene of a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Hwy. 1492 and U.S. 421N. Police and emergency personnel arrived on the scene and found two vehicles in the roadway with patients trapped inside.

  • Bridge calls subject of investigation

    An investigation is underway following a series of calls received by the 911 emergency system in Madison that led to the closure of the Milton-Madison Bridge Friday night.

    Jefferson County, Ind., Sheriff John Wallace told The Trimble Banner that he has asked the Indiana Department of Homeland Security for their assistance in the investigation.

    Wallace said calls reporting safety concerns were received at “9:02 p.m., 9:15 and two more at 9:32 p.m.” The bridge was closed late Friday by law enforcement on both sides of the river.

  • Two vying for Circuit Court Clerk Tuesday

    Trimble County voters will choose between two candidates –Stacy M. Bruner and John C. Edwards—to succeed incumbent Theresa Edwards for the office of Trimble County Circuit Court Clerk in next Tuesday’s Democrat Primary Election. Theresa Edwards is not a candidate for re-election.
