  • Labor Day: A time to celebrate jobs in the Commonwealth

    At their core, the major American holidays are bound by a common thread: They remind us of who we are and what we stand for, each and every year.
    While the Fourth of July celebrates our founding and freedom, Memorial Day and Veterans Day call on us never to forget the high price paid for those enduring gifts. Thanksgiving gives us a moment among loved ones to appreciate the many good things in our lives, and on Labor Day, which arrives this weekend, we pay tribute to the hard work that made our nation what it is today.

    Trimble County Hymn Sing will be held at Milton Baptist Church, 10076 Hwy 421 North, Milton, at 7:00 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend.
    Thursday, Sept. 8
    Milton City Commission will meet a 7 p.m. at the Milton Municipal Building.
    Sat.-Sun. Sept. 10-11
    The Trimble County Apple Festival will be held on the Trimble County Courthouse Square.

  • Kentucky State Police to conduct traffic safety checkpoints

    The Kentucky State Police will be conducting traffic safety checkpoints in the counties of Oldham, Trimble, Henry, Owen, Carroll and Gallatin during the period of Sept. 1 through 30. 
    The intent of a traffic safety checkpoint is to provide for high visibility public safety service, focusing on vehicular equipment deficiencies, confirming appropriate registration of vehicles, the licensing of drivers, and detection of impaired drivers. Violations of law or other public safety issues that arise shall be addressed in accordance with Kentucky traffic and regulatory laws.

  • Apple Festival pie contest entries sought

    The 2016 Trimble County Apple Festival is just around the corner and all area bakers young and old are encouraged to get ready for the Apple Pie Contest. This year’s Apple Festival dates are Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 10 & 11.
    Judging for the Apple Pie Contest will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10, at 11:00 a.m. at the New Life Assembly of God Church, located at 112 Hwy 42E in Bedford.
    Rules for the Apple Pie Contest are as follows:
    1. One entry per person

    The owner/operator of (Mo) Money is not a stranger to hard work, helping others and working on an extremely tight budget. However, this lady is on a mission and has found that although working for yourself, may take more hours per week, the payoff is well worth your effort. Charlene Kelley has finally become free of the everyday, punch a clock, hum drum of an hourly J.O.B. Instead, she works from her beautiful river home, working with other affiliates in a relaxing atmosphere.

  • Apple Festival rapidly approaches

    The 26th Annual Trimble County Apple Festival will be held Saturday, Sept. 10, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 11, from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Events include an Apple Pie Baking Contest & Auction, Beauty Pageant Contests, Apple Cider Relay Race and a drawing for the beautiful 2016 quilt made the Trimble Thimbles.
    New this year, on Saturday morning at 8 a.m., a 5K Run/Walk will be held and on both days, the Trimble County Public Library will provide a children’s activities tent.
