    FRANKFORT, KY. – Attorney General Andy Beshear and the Kentucky Council of Churches have announced a statewide partnership to prevent child abuse and scams targeting seniors.
    With the collaboration, the council will provide warning signs of child abuse and scam prevention information to its 1,100 member churches statewide.
    Beshear and the Council share a common mission — to better protect some of the state’s most vulnerable populations: children and seniors.

  • Kinman pleads guilty, resigns

    Carroll County Sheriff Jamie Kinman pled guilty Monday, April 3, to five felony indictments, three misdemeanor indictments and three malfeasance violations and resigned his position as sheriff.

    He accepted a plea agreement that requires him to successfully complete a one-year residential substance abuse treatment program at Canaan Land Ministries in Autaugaville, Ala., and complete a five-year pre-trial diversion program.

    FRANKFORT, Ky. – Make plans to bring your family to a Kentucky State Resort Park for the annual Easter buffet on April 16 for a great meal.
    The menu at the resort park restaurants includes roast beef carved on the line; baked country ham; catfish and hushpuppies; and a chef’s favorite entree selection. The meal will also include fresh fruit, a cheese bar, garden vegetables, salad and desserts.

  • State park campgrounds open tomorrow

    FRANKFORT, Ky. -- If you’re planning to enjoy the outdoors this year and go camping, make sure to try out a Kentucky State Park campground.
     The parks have 30 campgrounds across the state. To help kickoff the camping season, the state parks will hold its annual “Camper Appreciation Weekend” on April 28-30, when campers can get two nights for the price of one.

  • Carroll sheriff arrested on felony charges

    Carroll County Sheriff Jamie Kinman was arrested March 22, and charged with two counts of first-degree burglary, a class B felony, and two counts of theft by unlawful taking-controlled substance, and class D felony.
    Circuit Court Judge R. Leslie Knight issued a warrant for Kinman’s arrest on March 20.
    Kentucky State Police Det. Josh Noble arrested Kinman at 11:50 a.m. March 22, at the Grant County courthouse in Williamstown, according to the citation.

    WASHINGTON — Agriculture Commissioner Ryan Quarles said Monday that industry and government leaders must do more to attract young people to careers in agriculture.
    “We must do all we can to make farming attractive to young people so our country can continue to produce and export agricultural products to sustain us at home and to export around the world,” Commissioner Quarles said at the Agri-Pulse Farm Bill Summit at the National Press Club.

  • ATF, KSP offer reward for info on armed violent felon

    LONDON, Ky. — The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Kentucky State Police (KSP) have announced a reward of up to $1,500 for information leading to the arrest of Bobby Green.    
    Green, a convicted felon, is wanted on two outstanding state arrest warrants charging him with wanton endangerment of a police officer, 2nd degree; possession of methamphetamine; possession of a controlled substance, 1st degree; fleeing or evading police, on foot and with a motor vehicle, 1st degree; and theft by unlawful taking.
