    The Kentucky State Police will be conducting traffic safety checkpoints in the counties of Oldham, Trimble, Henry, Owen, Carroll and Gallatin during the period of December 10 - December 24, 2012.

    The intent of a traffic safety checkpoint is to provide for high visibility public safety service, focusing on vehicular equipment deficiencies, confirming appropriate registration of vehicles and the licensing of drivers.  Violations of law or other public safety issues that arise shall be addressed in accordance with Kentucky traffic and regulatory laws.

  • Walsh apparent winner to build Downtown Crossing for Louisville

    FRANKFORT – Walsh Construction Co. -- contractors for the Milton-Madison Bridge replacement project here -- is the apparent winning team that will build the Downtown Crossing of the Ohio River Bridges Project, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet announced.

    The team’s “apparent best value” bid included a projected completion date of December 2016 at a construction cost of $860 million. That is more than a year and a half ahead of deadline and $90 million less than the cabinet’s preliminary cost estimate of $950 million.

  • McConnell re-elected Sen. Republican Leader

    WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell was unanimously re-elected by his colleagues on Nov. 14 to serve as Republican Leader for the 113th Congress. Senator McConnell is only the second Kentuckian to lead his party in the U.S. Senate.  The other Senator from Kentucky to serve as his party’s leader was Alben Barkley.

    FRANKFORT, Ky. – Kentucky State Park restaurants are preparing for one of the busiest days of the year – Thanksgiving Day.

    The Thanksgiving Day buffet will be served Nov. 22, 2012, at all 17 resort park restaurants, a tradition for the parks and many families across Kentucky.

  • Carroll ministers helping bus crash families

    The Carroll County Ministerial Association is administering a fund to help the families of those involved in the tragic bus accident on Boone Road last Monday.

    The Rev. Dr. Chris White of First Baptist Church, who heads the ministerial group, said the fund came together to aid families with the financial burdens they are facing day-to-day.

    The ministerial association fund is designed to help all those who had children involved in the accident. But he said the needs of the families differ based on their individual situations.
