  • Paranormal event in May at Carrollton’s Butler Park

    CARROLLTON, Ky. -- Join certified ghost hunter Starr Williams and the ghost hunting teams, RIP and Tristate Shadowchasers, for an exciting and fun paranormal experience during the Spirits of Butler Paranormal Weekend May 14-15 at General Butler State Resort Park.

    This year’s program brings new members to the investigation team, new technology and new interesting investigation locations in addition to the Butler-Turpin State Historic House and cemetery.

  • Regatta pageant seeks contestants

    The Miss Madison Regatta Scholarship pageant, sponsored by the Xi Beta Upsilon Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, will be held on Monday, June 27.

    The pageant is for girls between the ages of 18 and 26. Entrants must have reached their 18th birthday by June 1, 2011. The pageant is limited to the first 12 completed applications received.

    The entry fee is $75 for applications received by the deadline date of June 4, 2011. If it is necessary to extend the deadline beyond June 4, the entry fee will be $100.

  • Milton residents arrested

    Two Milton residents were arrested by the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office Tuesday, April 12 after selling prescription narcotics in a controlled buy conducted by local law enforcement.

    Wanda Stiltner, 42, and John Francis, 46, both of 101 Riverside Drive, Milton were arrested for trafficking in a controlled substance second degree. The charge is a Class D felony punishable by five years in prison.

  • Air Methods to reopen Trimble helicopter base

    Air Methods Kentucky is returning to Trimble County.

    Milton Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department Chief Jason Long verified yesterday that the company has agreed to reactivate its medical helicopter base, located on U.S. 421 South next to the Trimble County EMS and Milton Fire Station 2.

    Trimble County ranks in the top third of the counties with the healthiest residents in Kentucky, according to the annual County Health Rankings, released last week by the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.

  • Lanier Home to host Civil War event

    April 12th marks the 150th anniversary of the beginning of the most traumatic event in American history, the Civil War. To commemorate this momentous event in our nation’s history, a free program Disunion! The War Begins! will be held at the Lanier Mansion State Historic Site, on Tuesday, April 12 at 8 p.m.

    “It is appropriate that we are holding this event at the Lanier Mansion State Historic Site since J.F.D. Lanier did so much to help Indiana during the Civil War,” said Lanier site manager Gerry Reilly.

    CARROLLTON, Ky. – North American Stainless hopes to win approval this month for a $10-15 million funding package to expand its long products division in Ghent.
    Carroll County Fiscal Court approved an inducement resolution Tuesday, Jan. 8, for as much as $30 million in bonds and state real-estate tax breaks for the NAS project.
