FRANKFORT – As the nation observes the 150th anniversary of the Civil War, a new state program to link Civil War sites throughout Kentucky will help visitors and residents understand how the conflict shaped a state torn by the war.

FRANKFORT – Kentuckians have purchased more than 100,000 standard license plates bearing the national motto, “In God We Trust,” since the plate was introduced in January as a no-added-cost option for passenger vehicles.

The sales represent 16.5 percent of total standard-issue license plate sales, according to the Department of Vehicle Regulation in the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.

SPARTA, Ky. - Ron Hornaday, Jr., scored his 50th career NASCAR Camping World Truck Series victory, his third series win at Kentucky Speedway through eight starts and third this season in Saturday’s “Kentucky 225.”

The 14-year NCWTS veteran and his No. 2 Hollywood Casino Chevrolet crossed the finish line 0.438 of a second ahead of Richard Childress Racing driver Austin Dillon and his No. 3 Bass Pro Shops/Tracker Boats Chevrolet in the fifth-closest series finish through 13 all-time events at the track.

The United States Postal Service (USPS) will be holding a meeting concerning the discontinuance feasibility study of the Sulphur Post Office. There will be a representative from the USPS present to answer questions and provide information.  It is encouraged to complete and return the Postal Service Customer Questionnaire that was mailed out and return it by Oct. 2, 2011, but you can also submit/discuss it at the meeting. The meeting is open to the public and will be held on Thursday, October 6, at 6 p.m.,, at the Sulphur Christian Church.
