  • Defendants in child abuse case in court

    Preliminary hearings were held Tuesday in Trimble County District Court for two Milton residents charged with criminal abuse of a child in connection with an incident or incidents of restraining a child with a ball and chain in a residence on School Hollow Road.
    Darrin W. McDaniel, 32, was arrested on Saturday, Feb. 7, by Kentucky State Police Trooper Patrick Stucker after the trooper made a welfare check at a mobile home in which McDaniel, his girlfriend, April L. Vantyle, age 31, and three children were residing.

    The Bedford City Commissioners and Mayor Todd Pollock were unanimous in their praise of city employee Jimmy Hoskins for his street cleaning efforts in the wake of recent storms and frigid temperatures that made travel difficult.
    Hoskins said his job was made difficult by the number of cars that had been parked along city streets and the garbage cans left out waiting for trash pickup.

    Incoming high school freshman from Trimble, Carroll, Gallatin, Henry, and Owen counties now have a groundbreaking choice about where to go to high school. The superintendents of the five school districts have announced they are opening Kentucky’s first regional career academy so their students can pursue competitive advantage for the highest-demand, highest-wage jobs in Kentucky’s Golden Triangle region.

  • Drama group to host inaugural Princess Tea

    The Trimble County High School Drama Club is hosting a princess tea Saturday, Feb. 28, from 10 a.m. to noon at Milton Elementary School.
    Your little princess can meet Elsa and Anna, have tea with Alice and the Mad Hatter, play games with Olaf and Kristoff, or be our guest with Belle and the Beast. She can even make her own crown in the Enchanted Forest with Snow White, Flynn Rider and Prince Charming. Delightful treats will be consumed and fun will be had.

  • Father arrested in Trimble for criminal abuse of a child

    On Saturday, Feb. 7, Kentucky State Police Post 5 received an anonymous tip requesting that a welfare check be conducted at 179 School Hollow Road in reference to a child in danger.
    Post 5 Public Information Officer, Trooper Mitchel Hazelett said Trooper Patrick Stucker responded and subsequently arrested 32-year-old Darrin W. McDaniel for Criminal Abuse 1st degree and an outstanding Carroll County District Court warrant.

  • Parent voices concerns about elementary behavior issues

    Are the antics of some unruly elementary school students creating anxiety issues among students and staff at a local elementary school?
    The parent of a student in one of the Trimble County School System’s elementary schools raised the issue during last week’s meeting of the Trimble County Board of Education. The parent asked to address the board during the “New Business” section of the agenda about an alleged ongoing problem in a local elementary school.
