    The Trimble County Board of Education held their regular meeting Wednesday, Jan. 4, at the School Board office. Once the meeting was called to order board member-elect William Robertson was sworn in by Finance Officer Phillip Harmon.

  • Project 421 selects final alternative for improved Indiana approach to new Milton-Madison Bridge

    Local residents motoring back and forth across the Milton-Madison Bridge will likely see vast improvements in traffic flow sometime in 2019, once construction is completed on a new Indiana approach to the span.
    After nearly a year of studies and public input, officials with Project 421 have made their selection from alternatives proposed for improving traffic flow at the Harrison Street/Second Street intersection two blocks north of the bridge in Madison.

  • Bedford drafting alcohol sales ordinances

    Bedford Mayor Todd Pollock and City Attorney Amy Eversole are busy drafting ordinances to regulate licenses for the sale of alcohol as a result of last month’s local option election in which Bedford voters approved allowing the sale of alcohol beverages within the city limits.

  • Bedford receives audit, recognizes Darrell Harmon for 22 years service

    Jeffery Woods of the firm Raisor, Zapp & Woods, PSC addressed the City of Bedford Commissioners on the Audit for FY 2015-2016 ending June 30, 2016, during their Dec. 20 meeting. He reported certain items out of compliance due to personnel turnover. These items were presented to the City with recommendations and the City reported they would comply and correct the errors.

  • Drama Club’s ‘White Christmas’ a great success

    Last week, the Trimble County Drama Club kicked off their 2016-2017 season with their performance of “White Christmas,” which, unlike most iterations of the holiday classic, was loyally based on the 1954 film and was also the first known stage adaption of said treatment—meaning that some of the songs from the film like “Minstrel Show,” “Mandy” and “Choreography” were included in the show and performed for perhaps the first time on the Trimble County stage.

    Bedford residents decided by ballot vote Tuesday to allow sales of alcoholic beverages within the city limits by a 21-vote margin, according to Trimble County Clerk Tina Browning.
