  • Henry man faces charges after 27-mile pursuit

    An attempt to make a traffic stop of a motorcycle on traffic infractions late Thursday led to a multiple-county pursuit. The pursuit ended with the arrest of 62-year-old Campbellsburg resident James H. Fields on multiple charges.

    According to Trimble County Sheriff Tim Coons, Kentucky State Trooper Brodie Jodry was on routine patrol traveling on Hwy. 55 near the Trimble/Carroll County line when at about 10:38 p.m. he encountered Fields on a motorcycle speeding and traveling without the headlamps illuminated.

  • New Trimble/Henry animal shelter opens

    The wait is over.

    Henry and Trimble counties now have a brand-new animal shelter, and local residents and government officials were on hand Saturday for its grand opening, hosted by Dan Flinkfelt, Henry’s animal control officer, and his Trimble counterpart, Susan Guzzardo of Pleasureville. Guzzardo, a former employee of Louisville Metro Animal Services, started her new job Monday, July 16.

  • Rand: Comer’s job of righting Ag Dept. ship ‘outstanding’

    Kentucky Agriculture Commissioner James Comer has spent most of his first few months in office trying to shepherd his Department through both an audit and a positive transitional period. Comer and State Representative Rick Rand both alluded to the Department’s recent negative publicity during Comer’s visit with several local residents at the Trimble County Cooperative Extension Office on June 29.

  • Mason Tilley represents Ky. in California Braille event

    Reading can be hard enough, but try doing it with your eyes shut.

    Mason Tilley, 10, of Bedford, after being born blind, has been able to do exactly that from the age of three.

    Mason learned to read Braille from Shannon Stark and Carla Ginn, teachers of the visually impaired. Mason is a fifth grader at Milton Elementary School.

  • Lift of 1st bridge truss completed

    The “big lift” operation for the Milton-Madison Bridge Project has been completed, successfully placing the first span of the new bridge onto temporary piers. The lift is the first of several steps in the innovative replacement of the bridge.

  • Dave Villwock, Qatar win Governor’s Cup

    The competitive rivalry between drivers Dave Villwock and Steve David provided for a spirited weekend at the Madison Regatta. At the end of the event on Sunday it was Villwock in the U-1 Spirit of Qatar who had the best stuff out-dueling David and the U-6 Oh Boy! Oberto/Miss Madison to win the Lucas Oil Indiana Governor’s Cup Race. The win was Villwock’s ninth in Madison and win number 66 of his career as an Unlimited hydroplane driver.

  • Fiscal court address personnel, road issues

    Trimble County Fiscal Court hired a part-time maintenance mechanic for the county Road Department during a special meeting Thursday, June 28.

    Tom Boaz of Milton was hired to maintain all the trucks used by the road department. He will earn $13.50 an hour. Judge-Executive Randy Stevens said a position description will be drawn up to outline Boaz’s exact duties, plus a written agreement that clarifies who is responsible for tools kept in the road barn.

  • Fiscal Court hires Trimble’s animal control officer

    Project manager Tony Walker on Thursday received the certificate of occupancy for the new Henry and Trimble Animal Shelter, meaning the facility has passed all required inspections.

  • Ag Commissioner shares goals with farmers

    Kentucky Commissioner of Agriculture James Comer visited with local farmers and business leaders Friday during a “meet and greet” gathering at the Trimble County Extension Office.
