  • Zaira Jordan Weaver, infant

    Zaira Jordan Weaver, 6-months-old, Bedford, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 2009 at Kosair Children’s Hospital in Louisville.

    Born July 8, 2008, she was the daughter of Josh and Samantha (Abbott) Weaver.

    Zaira, whose name means “forever in bloom,” was born with a serious heart defect that led to two open-heart surgeries, gastro-intestinal surgery and susceptibility to infection.

  • Rose Mary Airington Howard, 61

    Rose Mary Airington Howard, 61, of Milton, died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2009 at Baptist Hospital Northeast in LaGrange.

    Born July 8, 1947, she was the daughter of Joe and Margaret Airington.

    She enjoyed sewing, cooking and spending time with her family.

  • Don A. Procter, 47

    CARROLLTON, Ky, – Don A. Proctor, 47, of Carrollton died Sunday, Jan. 18, 2009, from injuries received in a motor vehicle accident on State Hwy. 36 West, near Carrollton.

    Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 23 at Crossroads Church, 4835 Hwy. 421 North, Bedford, Ky., with the Rev. Larry Franklin officiating. Cremation was chosen by the family.

    Mr. Proctor was born in Carrollton April 26, 1961, to William Ovid and Minnie Alice (Law) Proctor.

    He was a member of Crossroads Church in Bedford and was a self-employed construction worker.

  • Della Mae Wilson, 83

    CARROLLTON, Ky. – Della Mae Wilson, 83, of Carrollton died Thursday, Jan. 15, 2009, at her residence.

    Funeral services were Monday, Jan. 19, at Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home, 809 Highland Ave., Carrollton, with the Revs. Jesse Baxter and Johnny Haynes officiating. Burial was in the Carrollton I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

    Mrs. Wilson was born in Carrollton March 10, 1925, to the late Jesse and Margaret Y. (Kelly) Baxter.

    She was a member of the Carrollton Wesleyan Church and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Rebecca Lodge.

    She was a homemaker.

  • Charles W. Congleton, 72

    Charles W. Congleton, 72, Lexington, Ky., died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2009 at the V.A. Medical Center in Lexington.

    Born March 5, 1936, in Sulphur, Kentucky, he was the son of Guy and Nannie Lee (Farley) Congleton.

    He was a graduate of University of Kentucky and had worked as a professional engineer, who founded C.M.T.A., until his retirement.

    He served as a Captain in the United States Air Force for 5 years. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and working with his hands. He also very much enjoyed spending time with his wife, three children and six grandchildren.

  • Ray Cavett, 74

    Ray Cavett, 74, of Madison, Ind., died Monday Jan. 12, 2009 at Peace River Medical Center in Port Charlotte, Fla.

    Born May 2, 1934 in Jefferson County, Ind., he was the son of Alva H. and Amy L. Brittenback Cavett.

    He served in the U.S. Army from 1956-1958. He retired from Envirex in 1993 after 34 years of service. He was the owner/operator of Ray’s Body Refinishing. He loved Florida and spent his winters there for the past several years. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and college basketball, fishing, boating and playing cards with his family.

  • Brady Franklin Baker, 22

    CARROLLTON, Ky. – Brady Franklin Baker, 22, of Carrollton died Friday, Jan. 16, 2009, at his residence.

    A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Carrollton, with the Rev. Kavungal Davy officiating. Burial will be in the St. John Cemetery.

    Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today, Wednesday, at Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home, 809 Highland Ave., Carrollton.  Evening prayers will be said at 7:00 at the funeral home.

  • Muriel M. Rothe Grove, 73

    WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – Muriel M. “Murts” (Rothe) Grove, 73,  of Winter Haven, formerly of Madison, Ind., died Sat. Dec. 27, 2008, at Brandy Wine Health Care in Winter Haven.

    Funeral services are 6 p.m. today, Wednesday, Jan. 14, at Morgan and Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive, Madison, with Rodney Nay and Josh Webb officiating. Visitation is from 4 p.m. until the service.

    Burial will be in Horton’s Chapel Cemetery near Belton, Ky.

    ORLEANS, Ind. – Caren Sue Rowlett, 55, died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2008, at Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany, Ind.

    A graveside service was  Wed. Dec. 31, with Brother Tom Bostic officiating. Burial was in the Liberty Christian Church Cemetery on Liberty Road in Orleans, Ind.

    Mrs. Rowlett was born Aug. 3, 1953 to the late Hobart and Gertrude (Casey) McCoskey in Washington County, Ind.

    She was a homemaker.

    CARROLLTON, Ky. – Mary Alice Oliver, 72, died Sat. Jan. 10, 2009, at her residence in Carrollton.

    Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today, Wednesday, Jan. 14, at Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home, 809 Highland Ave., Carroll-ton.

    Funeral services are 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Pat Butcher officiating. Burial will be in Carrollton I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

    Mrs. Oliver was born Dec. 2, 1936, to the late Carl and Geneva (Hatfield) Buck in Monticello, Ky.
