  • Willis Leon 'Jack' Maiden

    GREENWOOD, Ind. – Willis Leon “Jack” Maiden of Greenwood died Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2009, in Indianapolis, Ind., following an extended illness.

    Mr. Maiden was born July 10, 1939, in Carrollton, Ky., to Harlan Maiden and Violet Brophy Melcher.

    He was a 1957 graduate of Carrollton High School (now Carroll County High School). He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a member of Plumbers Local No. 440 in Indianapolis. In 1976, the University of Kentucky Wildcats voted him fan of the year, and he remained an avid fan throughout his life.

  • Phillip Thomas Ormes Jr., 62

    KUWAIT – Phillip Thomas Ormes Jr., 62, formerly of Louisville and Trimble County, died Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009, in Kuwait, where he was employed by an electronics contractor working for the U.S. Department of Defense.

    Mr. Ormes was born Dec. 4, 1946, in Louisville, Ky., to Phillip T. Sr. and Ellen Louise Ormes. He graduated from Valley High School in 1965 and joined the U.S. Air Force. He retired as a master sergeant after serving more than 20 years. Nicknamed "Tot," he lived in Trimble County in the late 1980s.

  • James W. Proctor, 78

    CARROLLTON, Ky. – James W. “Jim” Proctor, 78, of Carrollton died Saturday, March 14, 2009, at Baptist Hospital Northeast in La Grange, Ky.

    Funeral services were Tuesday, March 17 at Tandy, Eckler, Riley funeral Home, 809 Highland Ave., in Carrollton with the Rev. Charlie Harmon officiating. Burial  was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Carrollton.

    Mr. Proctor was born March 14, 1931, in Trimble County to the late Walter and Gertrude Ball Proctor.

    He was a factory worker and a member of Cove Hill Baptist Church.

  • William A. Young Jr., 66

    CARROLLTON, Ky. – William A. “Bill” Young Jr., 66, died Saturday, March, 14, 2009, at Norton Audubon Hospital in Louisville, Ky.

    Funeral services were Tuesday, March 17 at Graham-Dunn Funeral Home, 213 Fifth Street, Carrollton with the Rev. Gerald Wallace officiating. Burial was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Carrollton.

    Mr. Young was born Sept. 18, 1942 in Omar, W.VA. to the late William A. and Bessie M. Gardner Young.

    He was an auto worker and a coal miner. He enjoyed hunting, bingo and his family.

  • Katherine Mae Reynolds, 75

    CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio – Katherine Mae Reynolds, 75, died Monday, March 16, 2009, at Pickaway Manor Care Center in Circleville.

    Funeral services will be today, Wednesday, March 18, at 2 p.m. at Tandy, Eckler, Riley Funeral Home, 809 Highland Ave., Carrollton with the Rev. Jerry Ison officiating. Burial will be in English Cemetery, in Carroll County.

    Visitation will be from noon until time of service on Wednesday,

    Mrs. Reynolds was born Dec. 26, 1933, in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Albert and Martha Caudle Fields.

  • Ray T. Sprecker, 66

    CARROLLTON, Ky. – Ray T. Sprecker, 66, of Carrollton died Wednesday, March 11, 2009, at his residence.

    A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Cremation was chosen by the family.

    Tandy, Eckler, Riley Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

    Mr. Sprecker was born January 15, 1943, in Newport, Ky. to the late Red and Virginia Morgan Sprecker.

    He was a factory worker for OEM Electric in Covington, Ky.

  • Evelyn K. Boyer, 95

    CAMPBELLSBURG, Ky. – Evelyn K. Boyer, 95, Campbellsburg, died Tuesday, Mar. 10, 2009, at Baptist Hospital Northeast in La Grange.

    Mrs. Boyer was born April 30, 1913, in Sulphur, to the late William T. and Martha M. Martin.

  • Joseph Humble, 74

    SUGAR BAY, Ky. – Joseph Humble, 74, died Monday, Feb., 23, 2009, at his residence in Sugar Bay.

    Services were Thursday, Feb. 26, at Garnett-New- McDonald Funeral Home, 108 E. Main St., Warsaw, Ky., with Denny French officiating.

    Mr. Humble was born July 11, 1934, in Owen County, Ky., to the late Lafe and Lucy Lucas Humble.

    He was a carpenter and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

    Bernard Malcolm “Bernie” Fisher, 77, Madison, Ind. died Wednesday, Mar. 4, 2009 at Jewish Hospital in Louisville.

  • Forest 'Ray' Kelley, 77

    MADISON, Ind. –  Forest “Ray” Kelley, 77, of Madison died Saturday, March 7, 2009, at Norton Hospital in Louisville, Ky.

    Funeral services were Tuesday, March 10, at the Macedonia Baptist Church, where he was a member, with Brothers Jeremy Sells and Ed Berry officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

    Wood-Oakley Funeral Home, 37 High St., Milton, Ky., was in charge of arrangements.

    Mr. Kelley was born Nov. 13, 1931, in Henry County, Ky., to the late Printice and Mag Roberts Kelley.
