    Norris Allen Wright 79, of Bedford, died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012 at the Richwood in LaGrange. He was born on July 20 1933 to the late Wallace and Edna Pyles Wright in Bedford.

  • Barbara Ann Spears, 65

    Barbara Ann Spears, 65, of Shelbyville, Ky. died Friday, October 12, 2012 at her home.

    Survivors include her husband, Jesse Spears, Shelbyville; daughters, Tina Spears, New Castle; Jessica Spears, Bedford; a sister, Mary Harbaugh, Corydon, Ind.; two grandsons and two nephews.

    Funeral services were Monday, October 15, 2012 at the Shannon Funeral Home. Burial was in Grove Hill Cemetery, Shelbyville.

  • Millicent ‘Penny’ Abbott Sparks, 91

    Millicent “Penny” Abbott Sparks 91, died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012 at her residence in Sulphur, KY. She was born on Nov. 3, 1920 to the late Joseph and Cleo Herring Abbott in Corpus Christi, Texas.

    Survivors include her three children; Gloria Miller of Long Beach, CA, Jesse Slocum of FL and Jerry Slocum of Sulphur; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

    Her parents and her husband William R. “Peanuts” Sparks preceded Penny in death.

  • Edith Laverne May Smith, 80

    Edith Laverne May Smith 80, Bedford, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012 at Baptist Hospital NE in LaGrange. Born July 6, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Gathia Brown May in Henry County, KY.

    Survivors include three sons, Orville Wayne Smith, David Earl Smith, Melvin Leon Smith, all of Bedford; seven grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and other relatives.

    Edith was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 49 years Orville William Smith, her brothers, sisters and one grandson-in-law.

  • Maurice S. Crawford, 76

    Maurice S. Crawford, 76, Bedford, died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012 in Bedford. Born in Anderson County, Ky, on Oct. 18, 1935, he was the son of the late Homer Crawford and Ottie Haslett Crawford.

    Survivors include his wife, a son, Marc Crawford, Kansas; several stepchildren, and a sister.

    Frances Elmo Clubb, 74, Madison, Ind., died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012 at The Waters of Clifty Falls in Madison.

    He was born July 5, 1938 in Henry County, Ky., son of the late Newton and Rhelda Raisor Clubb.

  • Melessa Ann Jackson Chisholm, 45

    Melessa Ann Jackson Chisholm, 45, of Carrollton, died Wednesday, October 10, 2012, at the University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville.

    Funeral Services were held Tuesday, Oct.16, at the Family Worship Center with the Rev. Jimmy Stewart officiating. Burial was in the English Cemetery in Carrollton. Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home, 809 Highland Ave. in Carrollton was entrusted with the arrangements.

  • Elsie Noah Berressem, 71

    Elsie Noah Berressem, 71, of Memphis, TN, died Oct. 5, 2012. She was born on Nov. 28, 1940.

    She was preceded in death by her son, Jack Dennerle Berressem, Jr., her mother, father and sister.

    She is survived by her husband Jack; children, Albert Berressem and Carrie Perry; two grandchildren, and a brother Charles Kenneth Noah of Arvada, CO. Services will be at 1 pm Wednesday, October 10th at Union Ave. Baptist Church, Memphis. Burial to follow at Memphis Memory Gardens.

  • Ronald Douglas Riley, 68

    Ronald Douglas Riley 68, of Milton, died October 4, 2012 in Milton. 

    He was born on Feb. 7, 1944 to the late Norvin and Margaret Smith Riley.

    Survivors include his children, Walter D. Riley, Pensacola, FL, Margaret R. Snow, Milton, and David A. Riley, Madison, Ind.; two brothers, Charles Holloway, Carrollton, and Walter Holloway, Bedford; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

    His parents preceded Ronald in death.

  • Maurice Hoffman, 96

    Maurice Hoffman, 96, Milton, died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012 at the King’s Daughters’ Hospital in Madison, Ind.

    He was born on Sept. 30, 1916 in Madison to Matthew Joseph Hoffman, Sr. and Clara Gertrude Hunger Hoffman.

    Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Louise Butler Hoffman, Milton; his daughters, Jenny Banker, Akron, Ohio, Nancy Flint, Madison, Ind.; two sons, Maury Hoffman, Nashville, Tenn., Ron Hoffman, Vilas, NC; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three brothers and other relatives.
