  • Betty M. Brown, 65

    GHENT, Ky. – Betty M. Brown, 65, of Ghent died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008, at her home.

    Funeral services were Friday, Sept. 5, at Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home, 809 Highland Ave., Carrollton, Ky., with the Rev. Howard Wade officiating. Burial was in the Worthville Cemetery in Worthville, Ky.

    Mrs. Brown was born May 6, 1943, in Worthville to the late John W. and Rebekka (Osborne) Chadwell.

    She was a homemaker and a member of the Macadonia Baptist Church in Jonesville, Ky.

  • The Rev. Douglas Bell, 70

    FORTVILLE, Ind. – The Rev. Douglas “Ducky” Bell, 70, formerly of Madison, Ind., died Friday, Sept. 5, 2008, at his residence in Fortville.

    Funeral services are 1 p.m. today, Wednesday, Sept. 10,  Bell Mortuary and Creamatory, Shangrila Chapel, 1512 W. US Hwy. 52, Finly, Ind. A graveside service is at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Carrollton, Ky., with the Rev. Terry Long officiating. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the time of the service.

  • Brenda A. Earls, 62

    CARROLLTON, Ky. – Brenda A. Earls, 62, died Sunday, Sept. 7, 2008, at her residence in Carrollton.

    Funeral services will be held today at the Pentecostals of Carrollton Church in Carrollton from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. with the Revs. Ron Tiller, E.D. Puckett and James Williams officiating. Burial will be in the Warsaw Cemetery, Warsaw, Ky.

    Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home, 809 Highland Avenue, Carrollton is in charge of funeral arrangements.

    Mrs. Earls was born April 1, 1946, in Warsaw to the late Virgil T. and Elizabeth (Beach) Adams.

  • Bruce W. Brading, 56

    CAMPBELLSBURG, Ky. – Bruce W. Brading, 56, of Campbellsburg died Thursday, Sept. 4, 2008, in his home following a long illness.

    A memorial celebration ceremony is planned for 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 14, at Paroquet Springs Conference Centre, 395 Paroquet Springs Drive, Shepherdsville, Ky.

    Mr. Brading was born May 3, 1952, in Louisville to Joseph H. and Janetta Brading. He graduated from the University of Kentucky in Lexington and was a Kentucky Colonel.

  • Linda Jean Long, 60

    MILTON, Ky. – Linda Jean Long, 60, of Milton died Friday, Aug. 28,2008, at Baptist Hospital Northeast Hospice Unit in La Grange, Ky.

    Born Jan. 21, 1948, in Trimble County, she was the foster daughter of Ruth Long Perry of Milton and Bud Long.

    She enjoyed shopping, being with people, making hooked rugs and baking cakes. She was a member of the Milton Baptist Church.

    Survivors include her foster mother; a sister, Brenda Hayes of California; a brother, Timothy Holt of Texas; and other relatives.

    She was preceded in death by her foster father.

  • Mary L. Fuller, 76

    SOMERSET, Ky. – Mary L. Fuller, 76, died Friday, Aug. 22, 2008, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital, Somerset.

    Funeral services were held graveside at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Carrollton, Ky. with Anna Perkinson officiating.

    Ms. Fuller was born in Carroll County on Jan. 7, 1932. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Eunice Fuller.

    Graham-Dunn Funeral Home, 213 Fifth St., Carrollton, is in charge of the arrangements.

  • Leslie Keith Oliver, 57

    CAMPBELLSBURG, Ky. – Leslie Keith “Flea” Oliver, 57, of Campbellsburg died Friday, Aug. 29, 2008, at his residence.

    Mr. Oliver was born Dec. 19, 1950, in La Grange, Ky., to Kenneth and Geneva (Roberts) Oliver of Campbellsburg.

    He was a veteran of the U.S. Army National Guard.  He enjoyed playing golf, the guitar, fishing, and spending time at the Campbellsburg Minute Mart.

  • Raymond Lee Thompson, 71

    WARSAW, Ky. – Raymond “Ray” Lee Thompson, 71,  died Friday, Aug. 15, 2008, at St. Elizabeth South Hospital in Edgewood, Ky.

    Funeral services were Monday, Aug. 18, at the Garnett-New-McDonald Funeral Home, 108 E. Main St., Warsaw, with the Rev. Douglas Sharon officiating. Burial was in the Warsaw Cemetery.

    Mr. Thompson was born April 6, 1937, to the late Gilbert and Goldie Cox Thompson. He  retired after working as a boilermaker for 33 years. He was also a farmer.

  • James Howard Nolan, 82

    WILDER, Ky. – James “Jim” Howard Nolan, 82, of Wilder, died Friday, Aug. 29, 2008, at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas, Ky.

    A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 10 a.m. today, Wednesday, Sept. 3, at St. Therese Church, Southgate, Ky., with the Rev. Clarence Heitzman officiating. Burial will be at St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas, Ky.

    Mr. Nolan was born June 18, 1926, in Covington, Ky. to the late Irma (Leising) and Howard James Nolan.

  • James W. Payton, 77

    LOUISVILLE, Ky. – James W. “Dunnie” Payton, 77, of Louisville died Thursday, Aug. 28, 2008, at his home.

    Mr. Payton was a retired machine operator for Brown and Williamson Tobacco Company. He was a member of the Believers Church.

    Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Minnie Sutherland Payton; a son, Leslie (Stephanie) Payton; two daughters, Wanda (Tony) Cumpton and Sheila (Vernon) Gore; a brother, Isaac (JoAnn) Payton; and three grandchildren.
