• Gladys Josephine Boldery, 86

    Gladys Josephine Boldery, 86, of Milton, Ky., died Friday, January 24, 2014 at her residence.
    She is survived by a daughter Pamela Branco of Milton, three brothers, Warren May of Berea, Ky., Charles May of Carrollton, Ky., and Sid May of Carroll County, Ky., two sisters, Eva Loaring of Pleasureville, Ky. and Barbara Read of Kitty Hawk, NC. She was preceded in death by her husband Hayden Boldery, one daughter, Janice Snyder, one son Monty Blane Boldery, five siblings and her parents.

  • Robert Earl Hawkins, 82

    Robert Earl Hawkins, 82 of Turners Station, died Friday, Aug. 22, 2014 at the Baptist East Hospital in Louisville. He was born in Moorefield, Ind., on Dec. 16, 1931 to Earl and Pearl (Brandon) Hawkins.   
    Robert enlisted in the Army, and became a tank “gunner”.  He fought in several offenses against the North Korean Army: the battle for “Pork Chop Hill” and the “Old Baldy,” to name a few.

    Margaret Holcomb Satterly, age 83 of New Castle, died Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2014 at her residence. She was the daughter of the late Roy J. and Ida Jane (Rodgers) Shannon.
    She is survived by a daughter, Peggy Lorene Nutgrass of Bedford; three sons:  Georgie C. Holcomb and Danny Gayle Holcomb, both of New Castle, and Ricky Allen Holcomb of Sulphur; a step-daughter, Mary Helen Clark of Bethlehem; a step-son, Michael Satterly of Bethlehem; a sister, Marie Crawford of Frankfort; 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

  • James ‘Jimmy’ William Wright, 70

    James “Jimmy” William Wright, 70 of Bedford, died Aug. 22, 2014 at Baptist East Hospital in Louisville.
    Jimmy was born in Carrollton, on Jan. 18, 1944 to the late Forrest Evin Wright and Irene Langston Wright.  
    Jimmy served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.  He earned the Bronze Star and several other medals during his tour.
    Jimmy is survived by his daughter: Stephanie Abner of Bedford, his companion Hilda Parrish of Bedford, two brothers: Charles Edward Wright of Bedford and Jerry Lee Wright of Hanover, Ind.

  • Henry Carroll ‘Hank’ Mattick, 68

    Henry Carroll Mattick, 68 of Campbellsburg, died on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at Baptist Hospital Northeast in LaGrange. He was born to Fred and Naomi Clark Mattick in LaGrange. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran.
    He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Ami Marie Hancock Mattick; and a brother, Fred C. Mattick, of Whitleyville, TN. He was preceded in death by his parents.
    Funeral services were held Friday, June 20 at Ransdell Funeral Home, Campbellsburg, with burial in the New Castle Cemetery.

    Funeral services were held Monday, May 19, at the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home, 809 Highland Ave., in Carrollton with the Rev. Dr. Chris White officiating. Burial was in the Moffett Cemetery in Milton.
