President Ronald Reagan out-polled his Democrat challenger Walter Mondale by 301 votes in Tuesday’s General Election. Nationally, Regan was re-elected to a second term.
Trimble voters overwhelmingly favored incumbent Walter Dee Huddleston over Republican challenger Mitch McConnell by 604 votes in the race for U.S. Senate. However, McConnell won statewide by a scant 5,269 votes.
