  • LOUISVILLE, Ky.– Out-of-school youth, ages 16-21, in Trimble County now can get tutoring assistance and financial incentives to complete their GEDs through the expanded services of the  KentuckianaWorks Youth Career Center. Young adults in the county also can explore financial assistance for college and job training, receive career counseling and get help applying for college and job training.

  • The staff of Trimble County Middle School would like to recognize the following Students of the Month, Teacher of the Month, and Staff Member of the Month. If you see these folks please congratulate them. TCMS is proud of the students and staff and all their hard work and dedication.

  • Beef producers seeking to add more value to their livestock, may want to attend the Master Stocker Program, scheduled to begin on October 25. The Kentucky Master Stocker Program is an educational program that is open to any beef producer who is involved in, or interested in, stocker cattle. This program includes eight classroom sessions. Topics covered will improve your understanding of best management recommendations for stocker and backgrounding operations.

  • Anyone can fall, but the risk of falling and being seriously injured by a fall increases with age.  One in three adults over the age of 65 falls each year, causing the majority of injury and injury-related deaths among seniors.  National Falls Prevention Awareness Day is the first day of fall, Sept 22.  This day brings attention to the seriousness of falls and the ways to prevent them.  

    Four simple ways to reduce the risk of a fall include exercise, healthy vision, safe home environments and smart medication usage.

  • 30 Years Ago (Sept. 16, 1982)
    Trimble County Superintendent, Dr. Bill Stout hand carried a proposal to the State Board of Education in Frankfort, Tuesday. The proposal outlines the local board’s plans to eliminate the deficit in their 1981-1982 budget.

    The Milton Town Board met and it was announced that the Milton Fire Department had passed its inspection by the Insurance Services Office of Kentucky. The new rating will enable Milton residents within a five-mile radius by road to have their homeowners insurance premiums reduced.

    Trimble County Historical Society will meet at 1 p.m. at the Trimble County Public Library. Civil War Generals from Kentucky DVD will be shown. Everyone welcome.

  • There is no News of Public Record to report this week. Court services across Kentucky were closed on Tuesday, Sept. 4, as the Kentucky Judicial Branch shut down for the second of three furlough days in 2012. The furloughs are one of several measures included in the Judicial Branch’s Fiscal Year 2013 Budget Reduction Plan.
