  • Two students from Trimble County were among the 1,400 students who received degrees during graduation ceremonies Aug. 13 at Indiana Wesleyan University’s main campus in Marion, Ind.

    Locals graduating were: Adam Benecke, 2527 Bells Ridge Road, Bedford, M.B.A., applied management; and Amy Liter, 3482 Liberty Road, Milton, M.B.A., applied management.

  • Randal & Patricia Smith of Bedford, Ky., and Anita & John Nevils of Carrollton, Ky,, are pleased to announce the engagement and upcoming marriage of their daughter, Ashley Smith, to Justin Whipple, son of John & Lisa Whipple of Galeton, Pa., & Michelle & Chris Piaquadio of Fort Walton Beach, Fl.

    The bride-elect is a 2003 graduate of Trimble County High School and is employed at Gulf Coast Immediate Care Center.

    The groom is a 2000 graduate of Galeton High School in Pennsylvania, and is employed at Transfield Services.

  • The Trimble County Cooperative Extension Service will offer an eCommerce Workshop, Monday evenings in October and November 2011.
    Sessions will be held from 5:30 – 8 p.m. at the extension office located at 43 High Country Lane, Bedford.

    The registration fee of $25.00 includes workbook and dinner at each session.

  • When you think of your cholesterol level you may think of some of the foods that you eat.

  • Last week while on my stay-at-home vacation, I went fishing.

    For billions of people around the world, that news would be a big fat no big deal because it’s done all the time so ho hum, tell me something I don’t know.

    However, for me going fishing was a big fat very big deal because it was my first time ever.

    At 56, I had never fished before, and for months now I have been wanting to, almost to the point of it being an obsession. I don’t know why I’ve been wanting to fish so badly, only that I have.

  • 30 Years Ago (Sept. 3, 1981)
    TCHS’s 58-piece band was ranked No. 1 in Class A Marching band competition in Cynthiana. Michelle Craig was judged No. 1 Field Commander at the Saturday Band Festival in Class A high schools and she ranked highly among the 21 bands participating in the festival.

  • Thursday, Sept. 1
    The Trimble County Hymn Sing will start at 7 p.m. at the Hickory Grove United Methodist Church on Morton Ridge Road. Everyone is invited.

    Milton Volunteer Fire Fighters will hold their annual Fish Fry at Station I, Milton Hilltop, Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m.-8 p.m.
