  • There’s been a lot of hype about stevia. Stevia is an extract of a shrub originating from South America and is also grown in India, South Korea and China.

  • With the moist summer we’ve had in Kentucky, mosquitoes have had a prime environment to flourish and become a prevalent pest. They can make your life downright miserable. Many recreational and work activities have been ruined by the constant annoyance and irritation mosquito bites inflict.

  • EDITOR’S NOTE: The following is the fifth and final installment in a series of childhood memories penned by the late Giles Hancock Wood in January 1941. Mrs. Wood’s writings offer glimpses of life in Trimble County in the late 19th century. The memories, edited by a granddaughter, June Lehue Haney, were made available to The Trimble Banner by a grandson, former Milton Mayor Gary Rowlett.


  • Here in Kentucky we wait 11 whole months for this special time of year. Production, nutritional value, and taste are at the peak of the season and prices are at the lowest level of the year. July is blueberry season! There’s nothing quite like bringing home fresh berries in the summer, bursting with the perfect combination of tart and tangy sweetness.  It’s easy to see why someone felt that blueberries needed their own month to celebrate.

    The Trimble County Cooperative Extension Service Council will meet at 9 a.m. at the Trimble County Cooperative Extension Service office located at 43 High Country Lane, Bedford.  All meetings are open to the general public.

    Trimble County Hymn Sing will be held at 7 p.m. at the Milton Methodist Church.
