    The bride is the daughter of Ray and Stuart Clem, Bedford. She is a graduate of the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor of Arts in interior design.

    The groom’s parents are Mark and Jamie Mattingly, Henderson, Ky. The groom graduated from the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics. He is employed with Amvac Chemical Corp.

    Bedford Christian Church presents “The Old Shoemaker’s Christmas” (a play by Chris Danyluk and produced by special arrangement with Eldridge Publishing Company) at 7 p.m., refreshments following each performance. Donations for the Hands of Christ Community Food Pantry will be accepted.

  • With the holiday season upon us, it’s important to remember to reduce holiday stress and the after-holiday bills by developing a budget for gift giving, food and entertainment expenses.      

  • The Louisville area extension services will be offering the USDA Beginning Farmer Rancher Program starting in January of 2012.  This program will be open to individuals who currently farm 20 acres or more, and who have been farming on their own for less than 10 years.   The program is meant to be a very in depth farm management program, so some basic farming knowledge is required.   The schedule of classes has been planned to hopefully minimize classes during busy times of the year.

  • This week I turned 57.

    I thought by this age I’d get the hang of the whole sainthood thing. The Protestant definition of a saint is simply a follower of Jesus.

    However, that doesn’t seem enough. There should be more to it than that. For instance, by now I should have at least the beginning buds of a halo or be able to say no to temptation eight out of 10 times — or two out of 10!

    But the truth is, I still struggle.

    Glen Perkinson took over the duties of Property Valuation Administrator on Dec. 7. His office staff includes Shirley Ginn and Tammi Hatton.
    Northbank Ski Management plans to open Dec. 16-18 depending on the weather and the snow machines. This will be the first major alpine ski slope in the Bluegrass State and it can be used at Butler State Park.

    Trimble County Bands from 5th grade through high school and Jazz ensemble had a concert Dec. 13.

  • Thursday, Dec. 15
    Tri-County Community Action Agency’s Board of Directors will meet at 10 a.m. at the Campbellsburg State Police Post meeting room located at 160 Citation Lane just off the I-71 exit in Campbellsburg. The public is invited to attend. Tri-County CAA provides services in Henry, Oldham and Trimble counties.
