  • Are you getting ready to put away your canning equipment for the winter?  Take some time now to ensure that everything will be in good shape and ready to go when summer comes again.
    Before storing your pressure canner, clean the vent and safety valve, following the manufacturer’s instructions. If your canner has a gasket or sealing ring in the lid, clean and check it as well. If it is hard or cracked, it should be replaced before next canning season. If needed, a new gasket can be ordered from the manufacturer or found at a local hardware store.

  • USDA Rural Development State Director Thomas G. Fern announced recently that USDA has scheduled seven ‘USDA Resource Day’ events throughout Kentucky as part of USDA’s StrikeForce Initiative for Rural Growth and Opportunity.
    A valued partner of USDA, the University of Kentucky’s College of Agriculture, Food and Environment (Cooperative Extension) will host the seven locations for the information sharing events.

    On Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2015, Trimble County held its 3rd annual Community Baby Shower at the Morgan Community Center.
    Twenty-seven families of expecting parents and parents of children up to 24 months of age attended. Twenty organizations were present to provide participants information about the many services available in the community and to provide many prizes for the event.

  • Bedford Baptist Church, 1461 Hwy. 42 East, will be having revival services beginning Sunday, Oct. 25, and continuing through Wednesday, Oct. 28. The guest speaker will be Bro. Eddie Burdette.
    Oct. 25 will be observed as “High Attendance Sunday” with Sunday School starting at 10 a.m. There will be nightly themes for each 7 p.m. service during the meeting. Sunday evening’s theme will be “Youth,” Monday will be “Children,” Tuesday “Good Neighbor” and Wednesday “Favorite Team/Invite Rival.”
