  • Milton Elementary

    Milton Elementary School will have a special program honoring veterans on Monday, Nov. 7, at 1:15 p.m. The special guest speaker will be Lynn Romans, a Milton Elementary alumnus whose son, Darrin Potter, gave his life in defense of his country in Iraq. All veterans are encouraged to attend.

    Trimble County Middle School

    Trimble County Middle School will honor veterans in our community with a visual exhibit, as well as a short program from 9-9:45 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 9. Refreshments will be provided afterwards.

  • We were eating pizza — thin crust perfectly crisp, topped with ooey gooey decadent cheesy goodness that was just the right degree of meltiness.

    As our eyes rolled back in our heads in pizza ecstasy, my friend Tara said she had recently read that the sign of a culture in decline is its glorification of its cuisine and deification of its chefs.

  • 30 Years Ago (Nov. 5, 1981)

    Area 4-H champions for their skit “Proud to Be an American” were Melissa Gibson, Jennifer Moore, Michelle Napier and Stephanie Barnes. They will compete at the Kentucky State Fair and represent the area counties of Bullitt, Henry, Oldham, Shelby, Spencer and Trimble.

    Lady Raiders Cross Country team will be one of 16 teams competing for the state championship at the Kentucky Horse Park near Lexington on Saturday.

    Bedford Masons Lodge #158 had past master night with soup and sandwiches.
