    Apples are one of my favorite fruits. Who can resist sinking their teeth into a cool, crisp juicy apple. Apples are good for you too! They contain phyto-chemicals that play a role in decreasing heart disease, controlling diabetes, and reducing the risk of cancer. The majority of the apples’ disease fighting factors are in the skin. The apple is also low in sodium and high in potassium, and it tastes great! Apples are also low in fat and are cholesterol free.

    Most people are aware of the danger to ash trees from the emerald ash borer throughout North America. According to a sobering USDA Forest Service publication, “Emerald ash borer is the most destructive forest insect introduced into North America in recent history.     Children’s activity levels have dropped in recent decades through a number of factors, among them, cultural shifts in the way parents and supervisors address issues of child safety and supervision, differences in built and outdoor environments, to an increase in screen time. The days of neighborhood kids safely playing kick-the-can in bucolic suburbs have given way to supervised meetings and organized activity, increased school hours with less physical activity built into the day and greater use of electronic media.
