Megan West competed in the Miss Kentucky National American Miss Jr. Teen Pageant at the Crowne Plaza in Louisville on July 28-29. She was a top ten finalist out of 67 young ladies. She won the 2012 Jr. Teen Academic Achievement Award and a Modeling Scholarship. Megan recieved Trophies for being a State Finalist, Outstanding Program Participation, and the Spirit of America Award. She also received Miss Personality 1st Runner-Up, Most Promising Model 1st Runner-Up, Top Model 2nd Runner-Up, Actress 3rd Runner-Up, Photogenic 4th Runner-Up and a cash prize.
Bedford Pentecostal Church welcomes Pastor Carl Litchfield III and family from Portland, ME.
Pastor Litchfield began his ministry as a young man working alongside his father, Rev. Carl L. Litchfield Jr. Pastor Litchfield attended Apostolic Bible College of Memphis, Tenn. He pastured a home missions work and street ministry in Portland, Maine. In Scottsburg, Ind., he started a home missions work and has assisted fellow ministers in the Indiana area.
The annual Callis Grove Camp Meeting begins this Friday, Aug. 3, and will continue through Sunday, Aug. 12. Services will be held each evening—Monday through Saturday—beginning at 7 p.m. Sunday services will be held at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 5 and 12.
The evangelist for the series of meetings will be the Rev. James Southerland. Rev. and Mrs. Southerland will serve as the music evangelists for the encampment.
The University of Kentucky last week entertained a group of more than 180 elite high school sophomores from around the Commonwealth as part of the prestigious “Class of Kentucky” program. The elite group included Trimble County High School sophomore Conner Ball, son of Les and Linda Ball of Bedford.
On Saturday, July 21, Milton United Methodist Church will hold an ‘Auction for Christ’ fundraier in the new Fellowship Hall at 5 p.m. Wesley Cox, Auctioneer will auction household and miscellaneous items. All proceeds go towards the building fund or Church maintenance fund. Open to public.
Mount Tabor Wesleyan Church, 1450 Palmyra Rd. Bedford, will hold Vacation Bible School from Tuesday, July 17, through Thursday, July 19.
The theme for this year’s VBS is “Heat About the Miracles Jesus Performed.” All children ages three through 12 are encouraged to attend. The VBS sessions will be held from 6-8 p.m. nightly.
