  • LIHEAP sign-ups begin Nov. 5

    Sign-ups for the Low income Heating Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)  for the winter 2012-2013 will be held beginning Nov. 5 through Dec. 14, 2012. Apply at Tri-County Community Action Agency.

  • New freshmen at EKU include local students

    RICHMOND, KY -- More than 2,400 new freshmen enrolled at Eastern Kentucky University this fall. The number includes the following local students: Kayla Kidwell, Bedford; Mackenzie  Sutherland, Bedford; Craig Ward, Campbellsburg; Konnor Kimmel, Milton; Michael Gonterman, Milton; and Skiler Alexander, Milton.

  • Jenny Lind production is this weekend

    Bedford’s Jenna Underhill will play the lead role of Jenny Lind in “When Jenny Lind Came To Town” at Hanover College’s Fitzgibbon Recital Hall at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 12, and at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 14.

    Underhill, a 2011 graduate of Trimble County High School, is currently a sophomore majoring in communications and theater at Indiana University Southeast in New Albany.

    In addition to her role as Jenny Lind, Underhill is also the play’s assistant director.

  • Crouch, Whitaker to exchange vows

    Ronald and Toni Crouch, Bedford, announce the engagement of their daughter, Samantha JoAnne Crouch to Joseph Alan Whitaker, son of Cecil and Vicki Whitaker, Pendleton, Ky.

    The bride elect is a 2005 graduate of Trimble County High School and a 2008 graduate of Sullivan University. She is the granddaughter of Frankie and Donna O’Neal, Bedford.

    The groom elect is a 2004 graduate of Henry County High School. He is the grandson of Bell and Ruth Hughes, Bedford.

  • Jenna Rowlett completes prestigious SCATS program

    The Center for Gifted Studies hosted the 30th annual Summer Camp for Academically Talented Middle School Students June 10 - June 22, 2012, for nearly 200 campers, both residential and non-residential. Among those participating in the prestigious program were Jenna Rowlett, an eighth grader at Trimble County Middle School. Located on the campus of Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Ky., SCATS provides enhanced learning opportunities for academically talented sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students.  

  • Alumni planning meeting Saturday

    A planning meeting will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6, at the Trimble County Public Library for all those interested in helping with preparations for the upcoming Trimble County Alumni Banquet. A good turnout of volunteers would be greatly appreciated.

    Longtime Trimble County educator and coach J.T. Peniston will be the special guest of honor during a “Celebrity Roast” as the featured entertainment of the banquet, to be held on Saturday, October 27, at the Bedford Elementary School.
