  • Mullins joins newspaper staff

    Perry Park resident Renee Mullins has joined the staff of The News-Democrat and The Trimble Banner as the newspapers’ new circulation coordinator.
    Mullins most recently worked at the Carroll County Memorial Hospital, handling accounts receivable for patients, before starting at The News-Democrat, March 6.
    She has always worked in customer service and accounting, bring those key skills and experience to the job.

    Milton Baptist Church, 10076 Hwy 421 N., in Milton, will host a Spring Revival, beginning Sunday, March 26 and continuing through Wednesday, March 29, 2017. All  friends and neighbors in the Trimble County community are invited to attend. Services will start at 7:00 p.m. each evening.

    Thinking about carrying around a handgun for extra protection? Well, there is a lot about gun technology and safety that one needs to know, and requirement to pass a “Carry and Conceal Deadly Weapons” course is needed before a permit is granted. This was all described by Deputy Sheriff Glen Powell of the Trimble County Sheriff’s Office. Powell is well qualified to instruct in this, and has been teaching the course for many years.

At Signature Healthcare in Bedford there are a group of UK fans that declare their lifetime of cheering on the team demonstrates their dedication for the Big Blue Nation.

  • Head Start, Preschool Screening/Eligibility Day is Friday, April 28

    The Trimble County Preschool Program is funded through the Kentucky Department of Education.
    It is available to four-year old children whose family income is no more than 160 percent of poverty level or for children that are three or four years old with developmental or speech delays, regardless of income. For a child to be eligible based on income they must be four (4) years of age on or before August 1, 2017. Children who do not meet the age requirement may be eligible for Head Start.

  • Bedford Fire and Rescue extends subscription deadline

    The Bedford Fire Department has extended the deadline for local patrons to send in their annual subscriptions. The deadline, originally set for March 31, has been extended to April 30, 2017.
    Department member Amanda Wright said Monday that the number of subscriptions turned in so far has been “very low.”
    She said some residents may have been confused by the new way of notification this year. She stressed that the subscriptions are important to meeting the expenses of the department of volunteers.
