Our new Rotary International District Governor, Missy Eckenberg, along with Assistant Governor JoAnn Hepperman, attended our August 29 meeting. Our District (6710) is large and is comprised of 55 clubs from central and western Kentucky, with some 2,800 + members. Each year, a new governor (term is August 1 to July 31 the following year) attempts to attend all club meetings at least once, a difficult and demanding task. Much road time!

Our Bedford club has historically been active with this cause for many years and supports our local schools in many ways in support of education at all levels. We were most appreciative to learn, once again, how active the Trimble County Public Library is in carrying out summer reading activities for our community.

Yesterday, August 16, 2017, Isaac Romans, Jr.—better known as Junior to his friends—celebrated his 90th birthday.
“Dad served in Korea during the Korean Conflict 1951-53 with the Army,” explained his daughter Lynn Romans. “Upon enlistment he was sent to Atlanta, Ga., to welding school. He served as a welder with the 120 Engineer C BN and welding was his occupation for most of his life. He retired after 30 years of welding from Rotary Lift in 1990.”
