  • Trimble at National FFA Convention

    The Trimble County High School Chapter of the Future Farmers of America recently attended the 85th National FFA Convention.  The convention was held Oct. 24-26 in Indianapolis.

    Trimble County students were joined by Carroll and Henry counties as well.  Students saw people from all over the United States, even some from Puerto Rico!  The majority of students concluded that this was the best trip they had ever been on.

  • Signature to hold Hall of Fame induction

    Signature HealthCare of Trimble County will host a Hall of Fame Café celebration on Friday, November 15, 2012, to honor residents at the local nursing home.

    The purpose of the Hall of Fame program is to recognize residents for their accomplishments.  Employees, volunteers and community members are also honored for their contributions to the home and the Trimble County community as a whole.

  • Thanksgiving meal is Tuesday

    The City of Bedford in conjunction with local churches and civic organizations will offer a free Thanksgiving Dinner on Tuesday, Nov. 20, at 6 p.m. The event will be held at the Morgan Community Center in Bedford. Everyone is invited.

    “We encourage everyone to bring their family and friends and sit down and enjoy a delicious Thanksgiving dinner,” Bedford Deputy Clerk Rita Davis said. “We ask that if you have a large group to please call and reserve a table so we can seat everyone together.”

  • Popp to be inducted into EKU Phi Kappa Phi Society

    Karen Popp of Bedford is one of 78 Eastern Kentucky University juniors, seniors and graduate students who will be inducted into the EKU chapter of The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi during a special ceremony on Nov.  13.

    Popp is among approximately 30,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be
    initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year.

  • Trimble’s middle schoolers observe Red Ribbon Week

    Each year, Trimble County Middle School observes Red Ribbon Week with many other schools across the nation. Red Ribbon Week is an alcohol, tobacco and other drug and violence prevention awareness program observed annually in October in the United States.

    The Red Ribbon Campaign was started when drug traffickers in Mexico City murdered DEA agent Kiki Camarena in 1985. This began the tradition of displaying Red Ribbons as a symbol of intolerance towards the use of drugs. This red ribbon is a unified message of our commitment towards a drug free community.

  • Bedford planning second Community Thanksgiving

    The City of Bedford has teamed up again this year with the local churches and civic organizations to offer a free Thanksgiving Dinner on Tuesday, Nov. 20, at 6 p.m. The event will be held at the Morgan Community Center in Bedford. Everyone is invited.

    “Last year we kind of threw it together at the last minute and we served over 185 people,” Bedford Deputy Clerk Rita Davis said. “We were shooting for 200 so we came really close. This year we would like to reach that number or even go over.”
