The Center for Gifted Studies hosted the 30th annual Summer Camp for Academically Talented Middle School Students June 10 - June 22, 2012, for nearly 200 campers, both residential and non-residential. Among those participating in the prestigious program were Jenna Rowlett, an eighth grader at Trimble County Middle School. Located on the campus of Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Ky., SCATS provides enhanced learning opportunities for academically talented sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students.
A planning meeting will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6, at the Trimble County Public Library for all those interested in helping with preparations for the upcoming Trimble County Alumni Banquet. A good turnout of volunteers would be greatly appreciated.
Longtime Trimble County educator and coach J.T. Peniston will be the special guest of honor during a “Celebrity Roast” as the featured entertainment of the banquet, to be held on Saturday, October 27, at the Bedford Elementary School.
Trimble County High School graduate Jenna Underhill will be featured in the title role in the upcoming musical docudrama “When Jenny Lind Came to Town.” The production will be presented Friday, Oct. 12, at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, Oct. 14, at 3 p.m., at the Fitzgibbon Recital Hall at the Lynn Center for Fine Arts on the Hanover College campus.
LOUISVILLE, Ky.– Out-of-school youth, ages 16-21, in Trimble County now can get tutoring assistance and financial incentives to complete their GEDs through the expanded services of the KentuckianaWorks Youth Career Center. Young adults in the county also can explore financial assistance for college and job training, receive career counseling and get help applying for college and job training.
