Thirteen-year-old Trystan Liter recently demonstrated a random act of kindness placing him in the category of a Good Samaritan. Instead of asking for presents at his birthday party, Liter requested all of his guests bring canned goods.
Trystan explained, “My parents provided me with a great party at the old elementary school in Milton. I really didn’t need anything else. Therefore, I had my friends donate canned goods so we could give them to a local food bank.”
PENSACOLA, FLORIDA – Elizabeth Lynn Scott, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Troy Scott of Florence, Ky. and granddaughter of Betty Delph of Bedford, Ky. was named to the President’s List by Dr. Troy Shoemaker, president of Pensacola Christian College, for academic achievement during the 2013 fall semester. This was a result of earning an A average. Elizabeth plans to pursue a degree in Nursing.
Third Grade: Miguel Avelar, Hannah Evans, Carson Hackney, Audrey Howerton, Olivia Jones, Ella Knight, Kinley Kunkel, Mitchell Lacefield, Whitnee Louden, Kaden May, Kaylee Payton, Halie Purvis, Maddie Stark, Adelyn Weaver and James Thomas Wilcoxson.
Shelby Energy Cooperative is offering six (6) $1,000 scholarships, in a program designed to enhance the education and resulting careers of high school seniors. Two scholarships per district served by Shelby Energy will be awarded.
To qualify, the parent(s) or guardian(s) of the applicant must be a member of Shelby Energy.
Milton United Methodist Church will hold a Valentine’s Day Family Fellowship Dinner and Game Night on Saturday, Feb. 16. The event will be held at 4:30 p.m. at the church, located at 11100 Hwy 421 North on the Milton hilltop. There will be games for both adults and children, photos, karaoke and door prizes. Everyone is welcome.
