  • Special driver testing date set for November due to holiday events

    Trimble County Circuit Clerk Stacy Bruner has announced that driver testing dates for November have been changed.

  • MES fish fry is Saturday

    The Milton Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization will host their annual Fish Fry and Auction on Saturday, Oct. 15. The Fish Fry will begin at 11:00 a.m. and continue through 6:00 p.m. Featured events of this year’s event include train rides from 2:00-4:00 p.m., games from 3:00-5:00 p.m., 5th and 6th grades performing at 5:00 p.m., and culminating with the live auction at 6:30 p.m. The community is encouraged to attend.

    Hymn sing tonight at Hickory Grove
    The Trimble County Hymn Sing will be hosted by the Hickory Grove Methodist Church,  363 Morton Ridge Rd. in Bedford, 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 6. The public is invited.
    Milton Baptist to host Sportsman’s Supper

  • Milton High School reunion Sunday, Oct. 16

    The Milton High School Annual Black and Gold Reunion for alumni and former students of the old school formerly located on School Hollow Road in downtown Milton will be held at Noon on Sunday, October 16, at The Pines restaurant in Madison.

  • Rotary serving lunch at courthouse Tuesday

    The Bedford Rotary Club will again be operating the lunch trailer at the courthouse, this time on Tuesday, October 11, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. This will be our final offering with the trailer for 2016, but we will take up the activity again starting next May. Come by and support us for this fund raising activity for community support. We will be offering pork chop sandwiches, hamburgers and cheese burghers, barbeque, hot dogs, chips, cookies, and cold drinks. Thank you all for past support, and we hope to serve you again next Tuesday.

    Our Trimble County High/Middle School facility is overdue for major upgrading or replacement. This according to Superintendent Steve Miracle who brought members of the Bedford Rotary Club up to date on the school’s condition and the potential future funding requirements.  

  • Bedford Commissioners share reports of city activities

    During the September meeting of the Bedford City Commission, Mayor Todd Pollock and the commissioners commended the Trimble County High School football team for the paint job on the handrail running from the Marathon service station to the former middle school parking lot.
    All commissioners were present and each gave updates on their designated areas.

    What a team!  What a purpose! Just when we are saturated by the bad news of the day about our country coming apart, about the loss of high values among the youth, about sand-box level fighting among our politicians—in other words all the stuff that makes headlines among the competing news media—along comes a fresh reminder that we have the next generation of great kids working hard to assure brighter futures and high civic responsibilities.

  • School board discusses working budget, student privacy policies

    The Trimble County Board of Education held their regular meeting Wednesday, Sept. 21 at the Administration Office during which Superintendent Steve Miracle presented the 2016-2017 Working Budget for the Board’s approval. The school board is required to submit a working budget by Sept. 30.
