    During the entire time I was pregnant with my youngest daughter nearly 35 years ago, my husband was also unemployed.

    Back then, I carefully budgeted every cracker, every bowl of Cheerios, every ounce of milk, with absolutely no wiggle room.

    One day after a trip to the market I grabbed one too many grocery bags out of the car to bring inside to our apartment and a plastic gallon jug of milk dropped and splattered all over the sidewalk.

    Despite the adage, “Don’t cry over spilled milk,” I cried.

  • 50th wedding anniversary!

    Wayne and Janice Smith will celebrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary, Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017.   • Milton Methodists to host benefit hymn sing

    A Community Hymn Sing will be held at the Milton United Methodist Church, U.S. Hwy 421 in Milton, 6:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 18. All individuals, duos, groups, and instrumentals are welcome.   • Trimble library was scene of drama club’s live presentation of the board game ‘Clue’

    On a breezy day with the sun peering through the clouds, there had been a murder inside the local library. The good news was, the murder was an act of fiction; a figment of imagination for TCHS Drama Club’s annual presentation of the board game “Clue” with an untraditional live-action presentation on Thursday, Nov. 2.

  • Veterans Day Closings

    The Trimble County Courthouse will be closed November 10, 2017 for Veteran’s Day.  The Trimble County Sheriff’s Office will be closed both Friday and Saturday, November 10 & 11.

  • Morgan Center will host county-wide Thanksgiving meal Nov. 22

    On Tuesday, Nov. 21, several churches in Trimble County will come together at the Morgan Community Center in Bedford to provide a Thanksgiving meal to anyone in the area. Members of several local churches prepare and help serve the FREE home cooked meal because there are many people in the community who might not otherwise have a Thanksgiving dinner. The dinner will consist of turkey and ham along with mashed potatoes, corn, dressing, gravy, green beans, mac-n-cheese, rolls, drinks, and a plethora of desserts.

    Some pretty amazing, less-known, positive happenings are going on in our county. Often, as we “long out of school” citizens are quick to criticize local school activities as somewhat distant and disconnected (except if we have kids in sports of course), find that many school connected educational programs are reaching out, working to provide community educational and volunteer opportunities. Such is the “Community Education Program” (CEP) of Kentucky.

  • Veterans invited to Veterans Day events at BES, MES

    Trimble County Schools will be hosting special events in conjunction with Veterans Day next week. As Veterans Day officially falls on Saturday this year, scheduled events will be held during the week prior at both elementary schools.
    Milton Elementary School’s Veterans Day luncheon and program will be on Wednesday, Nov. 8, with the veterans’ lunch at 12:30 and the program at 1:15 p.m.
