  • New Rotary Club president
  • Raker reunion picnic planned for July 30

    On July 30, the annual reunion picnic of the RAKER family will be held at the American Legion Post 9 Shelter, 707 Jefferson Street, in Madison, Indiana. This place has great facilities, no steps, lots of shade and a playground for the children.
    Descendants of Ernst and Mary Buscher RAKER, and the related families of Strautmann, Titkemeyer, Uhlmansiek, Bulthaup, Obertate, Diekmann, Thiemann, and Detmer are invited to come join in.

    Following graduation in 2004 from Trimble County High School, Rebecca Thomas (formerly Rebecca Stucker), followed her passion for assisting others with quality of life issues and received her BS degree in Health Sciences and MS degree in Occupational Therapy, both from Spaulding University in Louisville. Since 2010 she has been employed as Occupational Therapist at Signature HealthCARE in Bedford.

    She has been described as a wonderful wife, mother, educator, friend, administrator and much more. The multiple hats Sharon James wears demonstrate how terrific of a person she truly is. Since 2009 she has been lighting up the halls of Milton Elementary School with her genuine love for the children and staff ensuring everyone feels safe, welcome and happy.

  • Board clarifies alcohol policy

    The Trimble County Board of Education met on June 15 at the Administration Building. Board Member Jodi Ginn asked for clarification to the high school’s alcohol policy. The policy stated that a parent must accompany their child back to school in the event of an expulsion.
    Superintendent Steve Miracle stated that the wording should have been in the event of a suspension rather than expulsion. A second offense would require that the student appear before the Board for expulsion.

  • Students use critical thinking skills and inquiry at STEM

    For the past several years Trimble County Middle School has offered a class for two weeks in the summer entitled STEM. STEM is an acronym for the fields of science, technology, engineering and math. It is one of the newest fields of study that has become top priority in education, the emphasis being placed on students later pursuing degrees in STEM-related programs.

    The Trimble County School District has several employees saying farewell this year. Each retiree was presented a personalized rocking chair and one by one were called up to be recognized for their many years of dedication and service to the school district.

  • Commissioners delay interior work on city building

    The Milton City Commission met for a regularly scheduled meeting on Thursday, June 9 at the Municipal Building in Milton. Mayor Denny Jackson presented the commission with a contract renewal for city attorney Genon Hensley. The contract will go through the end of 2016. The commission agreed to let Mayor Jackson sign the contract with Hensley who has represented the City of Milton for several years.
