  • Milton Dept. receives grant

    During emergencies, it is vital that firefighters have the tools to do their job effectively and efficiently. Communication is key to coordinating operations and ensuring the department performs well as a team and stays safe. Now, thanks to a $20,000 grant awarded by Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company, the Milton Fire Department will have new state-of-the-art communication equipment.

    Lloyd and Nanette Stith, Bardstown, announce the engagement of their daughter, Abby Walker Stith to Charles Clifford Gossom, son of Eddy and Kathy Gossom, Milton.

    The bride-elect is a 2007 graduate of Nelson County High School and a 2012 graduate of St. Catharine College.

    The groom-elect is a 2007 graduate of Trimble County High School and a 2012 graduate of the University of Louisville.

    The wedding is scheduled for Sept. 1 at Millanova Winery, Mount Washington.

    The reception will follow the ceremony.

  • Kentucky state tests coming soon to TCMS

    The tests are coming! The tests are coming!

    What I am referring to when I say the tests?

    I mean the State tests given every spring. In an interview with the Trimble County Middle School Principal, Mike Genton, he stated that “The students did remarkably better compared to the previous years” in reference to last year’s scores.

  • TCMS SBDM council elected

    The Trimble County Middle School teachers elected their new SBDM council members last week. The teacher representatives for the year of 2012-2013 are: Steve Gamble Kristy Center and Teena Drake.

    Friday the TCMS PTSA elected their new SBDM parent reps for the council.  They are: Jill Sachleben and Jennifer Aponte.

    Mike Genton, Principal, expressed appreciation  Tom Sibley and Sara Spurr for their work as members of the SBDM council for the 2011-2012 school year.

  • Bedford Elementary among grant recipients

    FRANKFORT, Ky. - Governor Steve Beshear and the Energy and Environment Cabinet jointly announced that $300,854 in grant funding has been awarded for 20 playground projects. The program provides rubber mulch for playgrounds, tracks and athletic fields.

    Trimble County’s Bedford Elementary School will be the recipient of $45,664 from the grant, according to Beshear’s office.

  • TCHS SBDM seeks input on new principal

    The Trimble County High School Site Based Decision Making council is seeking input on qualities local residents would like to see in the new high school principal. Please be watching for an e-mail with the survey attached or stop by the high school office to complete the survey.

    Surveys will be available from Tuesday, May 1, through Tuesday, May 8. Surveys are due Tuesday, May 8.

  • Wilson family welcomes baby boy

    Michael and Amber Wilson would like to announce the birth of their son Derek Nolan Wilson. Derek was born March 24th 2012 at 8:29 am. He weighed 7lbs 14 oz and was 20.5 inches long.

    Grandparents are Rob and Amy Johnson, Campbellsburg; David and Karen Wilson, Smithfield; and Billie Jo Sexton, New Castle.
