  • Apple Pie Contest returns

    The 2015 Trimble County Apple Festival is just around the corner and all area bakers young and old are encouraged to get ready for the Apple Pie Contest. This year’s Apple Festival dates are Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 12 & 13.
    Judging for the Apple Pie Contest will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 12, at 11:00 a.m. at the New Life Assembly of God Church, located at 112 Hwy 42E in Bedford.
    Rules for the Apple Pie Contest are as follows:
    1. One entry per person

  • Swap meet this weekend

    Trimble County’s semi-annual Animal Swap Meet will be held this Labor Day weekend, Sept. 5-6, at the Milton City Park in downtown Milton.
    The swap meet will be held all day both Saturday and Sunday with a flea market, crafts, antiques and animals. There will also be concession vendors on the grounds.
    Due to the outbreak of Avian Flu, poultry will not be allowed at the swap meet this year per Kentucky law. No alcoholic beverages are allowed on the premises, nor are handguns or live ammunition.

  • Golden Anniversary

    Larry and Barbara Burkhardt of Milton celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Thursday, Aug. 28. Bro. K. Joines married them at the Whites Run Baptist Church on Saturday, Aug. 28, 1965.
    Mr. Burkhardt is an Excavating Contractor with Burkhardt-Crawford Contracting and Mrs. Burkhardt is retired from the office of the United States Department of Agriculture in Carrollton.
    They have a daughter and son-in-law, Tayra and Russell Crawford and two grandchildren, Russ and Savannah Crawford. They will be celebrating with their family and with a trip later this fall.

  • Trimble Extension District Board to have special called meeting

    A special called meeting of the Trimble County Extension District Board will be held September 15, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Trimble County Cooperative Extension Service office located at 43 High Country Lane, Bedford. Items to be discussed are Stop Gap Funding, copier quotes, inquiry on property, sealing of parking lot, ebeam technology.  All meetings of the Trimble County Extension District Board are open to the general public.

    The 2015 Trimble County booth for the 2015 Kentucky State Fair was ready for the fair’s opening day last Thursday and has received a steady flow of visitors in the “Pride of Counties” section in the South Wing.
