Special to The Trimble Banner
After three consecutive seasons without a win, the drought is over for the varsity squad of the Trimble County Youth Tackle Football League. On Saturday, Aug. 27, the young Raiders demolished the Eastern Henry County Colts 26-0 a week after being beaten 14-0 by the Campbellsburg Bengals.
In the game against the Colts, Raider quarterback Cole Wright connected with his younger brother Dusty Wright for two touchdown passes before running for one touchdown and an extra point conversion. Fullback Quinton Gilley ran over tacklers to score a touchdown and also carried the ball in the end zone for an extra point. The Raiders travel again to the Henry County Recreation and Park on Saturday, Sept. 3, to play the New Castle Chiefs at noon.
Head Coach Todd Pollock says he gives God all the credit for the recent victory and is thankful to have a great coaching staff. Coaches include Rob Stevens as offensive coordinator, Paris Steffen as defensive coordinator, assistant coaches Terry McGowan, Kenny Payton, Sr., Richard Wilson and Jonathan Wilson.
