Loss follows 2-2 record at Florida tornament

Though the Lady Raiders were two-for-two at the KSA Holiday Classic in Orlando, Fla., last week, they were unable to keep up with the Lady Bearcats of Walton-Verona High School.

The junior varsity kept the game tight, but fell 36-29. The varsity team worked hard, but couldn’t manage to keep pace with W-V’s team, which won by a resounding 75-30 final score.

In Orlando, the girls lost their first game, which they played immediately following a 14-hour bus ride from Louisville on Dec. 27. On Dec. 28, though, they turned things around, beating Red Land, Penn., Lady Patriots by a close 38-35. That was followed by another win against the Redbank Valley, Penn., Lady Bulldogs, also 38-35. The Lady Raiders lost the last game, 54-49, this time against the Pisgah, Ala., Lady Eagles.

This week, the Lady Raiders prepare for the
8th Region “All-A” tournament, starting off against Owen County’s Lady Rebels at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 10, at Walton-Verona High School.
