The 2009 Carroll County Relay for Life committee is planning a “in memory of/honor of” video production as a fundraiser. Area residents are encouraged to submit photos and information about the individual or individuals they want to include in this tribute no later than Thursday, May 7. The video will be produced with the assistance of Rob Riley at the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home in Carrollton.
“This is the second year that we have done this type of video,” said Juli Yocum, a member of the Relay for Life committee. “It is a very nice way to remember, or honor, someone that has been touched by cancer.”
Pictures, consent forms and information sheets can be dropped off at the administration building at Dow Corning. The package must be marked to the attention of Yocum. Pictures and forms may be sent by mail to: Juli Yocum, Dow Corning Plant, Mail Stop #23, 4770 Highway 42 east, Carrollton, Ky. 41008.
Pictures and completed forms may be emailed to Yocum at firstname.lastname@example.org. A scanned copy of both the signed consent form and information sheet must accompany your email. If you do not have the necessary forms, they may be obtained by emailing Juli at the preceding email address.
If you are submitting a picture that is in memory of someone, remember to send in the person’s name, date of birth and date of death. A contact name and number for the person submitting the picture should be included in the event the producers have any followup questions.
Copies of the completed video will be sold for $10 each. All proceeds will benefit the 2009 Carroll County Relay for Life.
Another fundraiser for Relay for Life is a concert to be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 22, 2009, at the Carroll County Middle School auditorium.
“We will feature a type of follies where we will show music from ‘Grease,’ ‘High School Musical’ and ‘Hairspray’ among other Broadway hits,” said Melanie Stewart, who is among those coordinating the concert. “We will have all the ‘Grease’ cast involved.”
Many local favorites, including Vanessa Birchfield, Dennis Wheeler, Randy Pickett and Brandon Stewart are expected to participate, Stewart said. Talent from several local churches is expected to be involved. The program will also feature students from the elementary schools.
“It will be worth seeing for sure,” Stewart said.
The price of admission is $5. All proceeds go to the 2009 Carroll County Relay for Life.
