Trimble wrestlers in area meets

Indiana events
On Saturday, April 23, Christian Academy of southern Indiana in New Albany held the Lil Warrior Beginners Folkstyle Open Wrestling Tournament. Brady Cull, seven-year-old son of Daniel and Christy Cull of Bedford won first place, a Gold medal.

Bryce Turner, 8, son of Chris Turner, Bedford and Devin Turner, Salem, Ind., won first place receiving a Gold medal in the Bantam Division of the “Indian Creek Freestyle Open Wrestling Tournament.” This tournament was held at Indian Creek High School in Trafalgar, Ind.

On Saturday, April 30, Bryce and Brody both wrestled in the “Columbus East Freestyle and Greco Roman Tournament’ which was held at Columbus East High School in Columbus, Ind. Bryce received Runner Up honors in both the Bantam 50 Freestyle and Greco Roman Divisions. He brought home Silver Medals for both of those accomplishments.

Brody also competed in the Bantam 50 Division of both Freestyle and Greco Roman. He won fourth place honors in the Greco Roman Division.

Both of these young wrestlers train at Punishment Wrestling Academy in Milton.

On Saturday, May 7, Bryce Turner, 8, son of Chris Turner, Bedford and Devin Turner, Salem, Ind., competed in the Indiana State Greco Roman Wrestling Finals held at Lawrence North High School in Indianapolis, Ind. in the Bantam 50 Division. Bryce had three former state champions in his tournament bracket. He earned Runner-up honors bringing home the silver medal. He is the first wrestler from Punishment Wrestling Academy in Milton to accomplish this on the state level.

Boys & Girls Club action

Several wrestlers who train at Punishment Wrestling Academy in Milton competed in the Lide White Boys & Girls Club Little League Wrestling Program as members of the Sachleben’s Quality Law Care and TNT Fitness/Wrestling Club (Home of Punishment Wrestling Academy) sponsored team “The Bears.”

The Bears won the 2011 League Championship in a tournament held at the Boys & Girls Club April 25-28. The Championship Round was held on April 28.

Punishment Academy Wrestlers who received individual honors are as follows:
Brayden Taylor, 5, son of Brent and Lindsey Taylor, Bedford-Champion of the Pewee 45 Division.

Gage Ponder, 5, son of Charlie and Amanda Ponder, Milton-third place in the Pewee 45 Division.

Christian Cordell, 5, son of Eric and Cassandra Cordell, Carrollton-Runner-up in the pewee 57 Division.

Bryce Turner, 8, son of Chris Turner, Bedford and Devin Turner, Salem, Ind.-champion of the Bantam 49 Division.

Brody Cull, 7, son of Daniel and Christy Cull, Bedford-Champion in the Bantam 52 Division.
Brendan Parkin, 6, son of Wes and Erika Parkin, Milton, participant in the Bantam 79 Division.
Landry Kelton, 9, son of Charlie and Tara Kelton, Bedford, participant in the Intermediate 72 Division.

This team was also composed of youth from the Madison area. Many others received individual Honors, the above-mentioned are the Trimble and Carroll County youth who were on the team. The Head Coach of The Bears was John Turner, Milton, who is also the Director of Wrestling at Punishment Wrestling Academy. Chris Turner, Bedford, was the Assistant Head Coach. This Coaching staff has been a part of back to back LWBGC League Championships, as they helped coached “The Cubs” team to the 2010 LWBGC Little League Wrestling League Championship also.
