Little Raiders take titles

Trimble County’s 5th grade boys have won their league tournament for the second year in a row. In the semifinal game the Raiders took on Switzerland County, a team that had taken Trimble into overtime only two weeks prior. Trimble adjusted their defense by putting David Duncan on the Pacers’ main scoring threat, which helped shut him down and kept the Raider big men out of foul trouble. Trimble led 30-13 at the half en route to an easy 41-24 final.

Logan Clifford led Trimble in scoring with 12 points, Shane Mills 9, Duncan and Andrew Edmondson 6, Dane Lacefield 4, Evan Stevens and Grant Weaver had 2 points each.

Trimble took on Milan in the championship game. The Raiders started the game a little tight and held an 11-9 lead after the first quarter but enjoyed a 21-11 halftime lead. Milan never could chip into the margin and the Raiders  cruised most of the second half en route to a 36-24 win as they claimed both the regular season title and the tournament title. Mills led Trimble in scoring with 10 points, E. Stevens 7, Clifford and Duncan Ralston 5, Duncan 3, Lacefield, Weaver and Ben Stevens with 2 points each.

4th Grade Raiders
The Trimble County boys’ 4th grade team won the league tournament championship in Madison last week. The boys started out by beating St. Mary’s 26-19 then picked up a win over Milan, 36-17.

In the quarterfinals Trimble played Southwestern/4 and won 36-13. In the semifinals the Raiders ousted Pope John by a score of 34-31. Seth Brewer led all scorers with 13, Reese Webster 11, Beau Turner 6, Austin Cissell and Josh Petty had 2 points each.

In the championship game the Raiders took on Southwestern/3 and won 40-35 to claim the title. Webster led the scoring with 14, Turner 9, Brewer 7, Cissell and Petty 4 and Ryan Goody 2.
