TCMS salutes 6th grade students, staff

Trimble County Middle School Principal Mike Genton has announced recognition of the sixth grade Students of the Month and Teacher and Staff Member Spotlights for January.


“We are very proud of these folks and celebrate their hard work and dedication to TCMS,” Genton said. “Great job!”

Jaiden Beatty is the 6th Grade Female Student of the Month for January.  Jaiden’s favorite class at TCMS is Ms. Jordan’s Reading class. Jaiden is a member of FCA and the Cheerleading Squad. Her favorite TV show is “Glee” and her favorite book is the “Pretty Little Liars” series. Outside of school Jaiden enjoys cheerleading. Her favorite memory at TCMS is of the pep rally and cheering in front of all her friends. After high school Jaiden plans to attend the University of Kentucky and become a pediatric surgeon.

Matthew McGowan is the 6th Grade Male Student of the Month for January.  Matthew’s favorite class at TCMS is Ms. Stone’s Reading Class. Matthew’s favorite TV shows are shows about nature. Outside of school Matthew enjoys football. His favorite memory at TCMS is listening to his teachers.  Matthew plans to attend the University of Kentucky after high school and eventually wants to become a welder.

Cathy Thorpe is the 6th Grade teacher in our Teacher Spotlight for January.  Ms. Thorpe has been an educator for 21 years, and her last 13 years have been spent at TCMS. Thorpe is a graduate of Hanover College and completed her Master’s work at Northern Kentucky University.  Outside of school she enjoys Colts football, Purdue basketball, Reds baseball and spending time with her family. Her favorite food is fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy. Ms. Thorpe’s favorite TV shows are “Glee” and “Person of Interest,” but she also enjoys HGTV as well. Her most memorable moment at TCMS was a staff performance of “Little Shop of Horrors” during which she crushed her left ankle while jumping off a prop during the performance.

Connie Sutherland is the Staff Member of the Month for January. Sutherland has been working full time at TCMS for 19 years and subbed there for one year as well. She is a graduate of TCHS. Outside of school Ms. Sutherland enjoys spending time with her precious grandchildren, reading and doing craft projects. Her favorite foods are pizza, lasagna and anything chocolate.  Ms. Sutherland’s favorite TV shows are Hallmark movies. Her favorite memory at TCMS is that every day is a new, unique memory.
