Scottsburg New Tech High School is a Project Based Learning S.T.E.M. school (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) that offers an extremely rigorous Science curriculum in Biolit.

Two teachers, Mrs. Ashlee Hafer and Mrs. Boesche-Taylor have some amazing projects developed for their classroom projects that often involve global contacts such as genetic researchers from Italy, etc. Last year they were honored by the State of Indiana Science Teachers Association (HASTI). This year they are being honored by the National Science Teachers Association at the 2012 National Conference on At the Crossroads for Science Education March 31. They will be presenting a project that they created.

“So often in education hard work and the pursuit of rigor and excellence is not acknowledge even at the district level so a national award is amazing! The New Tech staff is very proud. Great work Beth and Ashlee you deserve kudos!” Principal Mrs. Debora Yost said in making this announcement.

Ashlee Hafer is the former Ashlee Thomas of Bedford, a 1999 graduate of Trimble County High School and a graduate of Indiana University Southeast, receiving a masters from Indiana Wesleyan.
