The Trimble County High School girls’ track team took second place out of eight teams competing in Thursday’s North Central Kentucky Track Conference Meet at Owen County High School. Trimble’s boys finished fourth in the male meet.
Trimble Coach David Apel praised the Raider athletes “on their outstanding performances” following the event.
Trimble’s Kelsie Courtney was named the outstanding female athlete of the meet winning the pole vault, high jump, 300 meter hurdles and taking second in the 200 meter dash.
The girls’ 4 by 800 relay team of Kylie Wilberding, Erin Gonterman, Morgan Chappell and Emily Tingle won their event.
Other highlights for the girls included Erin Gonterman, second in the 800 meter run; Olivia Cooley, third in the long jump and javelin; and Kylie Wilberding was second in both the 1600 and 3200, and third in the pole vault.
Trimble’s individual results in the girls’ meet were as follows:
100 meter dash—Kayla Barnes, eighth, 15.55; and Courtney Matthews, ninth, 15.98.
200 meter dash—Kelsie Courtney, second, 27.53; and Kayla Barnes, ninth, 33.75.
400 meter dash—Olivia Cooley, sixth, 1:09.43; and Morgan Chappell, seventh, 1:10.26.
800 meter run—Erin Gonterman, second, 2:44.83.
1600 meter run—Kylie Wilberding, second, 6:05.39; and Kirsten Baird, fifth, 6:25.60.
3200 meter run—Kylie Wilberding, second, 13:30.36; and Kirsten Baird, third, 14:16.55.
100 meter hurdles—Ashby Drake, sixth place, 20.45; and Hannah Whitaker, eighth place, 21.41.
300 meter hurdles—Kelsie Courtney, first place, 48.49; and Ashby Drake, 10th, 1:10.56.
4x100 Relay—Trimble’s team consisting of Hannah Whitaker, Ashby Drake, Courtney Matthews and Tessa Chilton finished sixth in 1:04.38.
4x200 Relay—Trimble’s team of Kayla Barnes, Ashby Drake, Emily Tingle and Hannah Whitaker finished fifth in 2:14.33.
4x400 Relay—Trimble’s team of Emily Tingle, Kylie Wilberding, Morgan Chappell and Erin Gonterman finished third in 4:46.97.
4x800 Relay—Trimble’s team of Kylie Wilberding, Erin Gonterman, Morgan Chappell and Emily Tingle finished first in 11:46.11.
High Jump—Kelsie Courtney, first place, 5-04.00; and Kayla Barnes, fourth, 4-04.00.
Pole Vault—Kelsie Courtney, first place, 8-00.00; and Kylie Wilberding, third, 5-00.00.
Long Jump—Olivia Cooley, third, 14-05.50; and Emily Tingle, 13th, 11-05.00.
Shot Put—Bonnie Wilson, fifth, 25-08.50; and Katie Liter, 13th, 15-04.50.
Discus Throw—Bonnie Wilson, fourth, 73-00; and Courtney Matthews, 14th, 43-11.
Javeline Throw—Bonnie Wilson, first place, 74-00; and Olivia Cooley, third, 64-10.
“The boys team did an outstanding job as well scoring as a team better than they had all year,” Apel said.
The boys were paced by Stuart Barnes, who set personal records in two events, winning the triple jump and placing third in the high jump. Aaron Blanton was third in the 100 before injury forced him out of the meet. Christian Apel was second and Conner Ball was third in the 800. The boys team of Justin Williamson, Wyatt Adkins, Josh Rexroat and Evan Simmons placed third in the 4 x200. Finally, the 4 x 800 boys team of Christian Apel, Conner Ball, Bo Hawkes and Ryan Blanton placed second.
Trimble’s individual results in the boys’ meet were as follows:
100 meter dash—Aaron Blanton, third, 11.98; and Bo Hawkes, 10th, 12.84.
200 meter dash—Justin Williamson, eighth, 26.17; and Bo Hawkes, ninth, 26.25.
400 meter dash—Kyle Puckett, fifth, 59.39; and Ryan Blanton, ninth, 1:04.15.
800 meter run—Christian Apel, second, 2:08.50; and Conner Ball, third, 2:08.91.
1600 meter run—Kyle Puckett, fourth, 5:05.51.
3200 meter run—Kyle Puckett, third, 12:09.41.
110 meter hurdles—Johnathan Papai, sixth, 22.21.
300 meter hurdles— Johnathan Papai, sixth, 55.93; and Calvin Brown, ninth, 59:31.
4x200 Relay—Trimble’s team of Justin Williamson, Josh Rexroat, Wyatt Adkins and Evan Simmons finished third in 1:46.01.
4x400 Relay—Trimble’s team of Justin Williamson, Conner Ball, Ryan Blanton and Christian Apel finished third in 4:01.91.
4x800 Relay—Trimble’s team of Christian Apel, Conner Ball, Bo Hawkes and Ryan Blanton finished second in 9:20.07.
