HADLEY, MA -- Williams College junior forward Taylor Epley earned the New England Small College Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week award for leading the Ephs to the title at the Cal Lutheran Thrivent Financial Tournament. NESCAC is a conference of 11 NCAA Division III colleges in New England.
Epley, a graduate of Louisville’s Trinity High School, is the son of Larry and Tammy Taylor Epley, of Goshen, Ky., and the grandson of Tom and Marion Taylor of Trimble County. His mother is a 1983 Trimble County High School graduate and was a sophomore member of the 1981 TCHS Lady Raiders that advanced to the Kentucky High School Athletic Association’s Sweet Sixteen in post-season tournament play. Epley is also the nephew of Bedford Elementary School teacher Shannon Taylor Stark, another former member of the TCHS Lady Raiders.
Epley was named the tourney MVP as he scored 60 points and grabbed nine rebounds in the two games on the west coast. The 6-4 forward converted 69.2 percent (18-26) of his shots from the field and 64.3 percent (9-14) of his three-pointers. He also netted 93.8 percent (15-16) of his free throws. Epley opened the weekend with 26 points and five rebounds in a 78-72 triumph over Luther on Saturday. He followed that with 34 points and four boards in a 71-53 victory over host California Lutheran in the title game on Sunday. The forward made six treys in the contest.
Epley leads the Ephs in scoring with 211 points (19.2 pga) thus far this season.
