An exciting weekend was had by all the weekend of June 10th as the Trimble County Youth Baseball League hosted a Home Run Derby, skills competition and a tournament.
In the Minor League the first round had the Red Sox beating the Tigers 11-5. In the semifinals the Reds beat the Yankees 18-12 and the Cardinals beat the Red Sox 13-7. The championship then pitted the Cardinals versus the Reds. The Reds struggled at the plate after scoring 18 runs their previous game and the Cardinals took advantage of it. The Cardinals had the lead after the first inning 2-1and never looked back pulling out the title game with a 13-4 win. Weston Sizemore, Shiloh Real and Allen Enos led the Cardinals with 3 hits each. The Reds were led by Austin Cissells 3 hits and 3 runs scored and Mitchell Lacefield had a hit and a run scored.
In the Major League the first round had the Reds beating the Yankees 11-6. In semifinal action the Dodgers got the win over the Pirates 11-2 and the Reds beat the Rangers 5-4. This set up a Dodgers-Reds final. Dodger pitcher Garrison Sanders came out on fire limiting the Reds to 1 hit and striking out 12 batters enroute to a 12-0 victory. Chandler Howerton, Grant Sanders and Cole Wright led the Dodgers with 2 hits and 2 RBI’s each. Dane Lacefield had a hit, 2 RBI’s and a run scored. Andrew Sutherland had a hit and a run scored.
