The seventh annual Shop With A Cop Trail Ride is scheduled for Saturday, October 1. The event is a fundraiser for Shop With A Cop, which helps provide Christmas presents for needy children in Carroll County.

The trail ride features a 10 to 15 mile ride through Carroll County. The ride begins at the horse park on Highway 55 near English at 10 a.m. The fee is $12 per person and $5 for children under 12.

“The trail ride is a fun opportunity for all horsemen to enjoy a scenic ride and participate in a fundraiser that benefits children within our county,” Sheriff Jamie Kinman said.

A meal will be served at 6 p.m. It is open to anyone attending the trail ride, not just the riders. Door prizes will be given and an auction will be held after the meal is completed.

“We have some nice items for our auction and door prizes thanks to the businesses within our community,” Sheriff Kinman said. Some of the items include a Stihl chainsaw, a free room at Hampton Inn and two pair of designer sunglasses.

“2011 marks the 11th year for Shop With A Cop,” said Carrollton Police Chief Michael Willhoite. “We rely completely on donations from private citizens and businesses to support this program.”

Anyone interested in the trail ride may contact Charlie Maiden at 502-480-6352 or 502-732-5076. Information is also available by calling the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office at 502-732-7010 or the Carrollton Police Department at 502-732-6621.
