The 2009 Carroll County Senior Event held Thursday evening was again a big success as senior citizens from Carroll and surrounding counties came to enjoy “Memories of the Family Farm.” We wish to thank the hard work of the planning committee, donations from the community and time given by all of the volunteers who helped build buildings, gather and set up the old farm equipment and other items, and set up the day of the event. Mike Humphrey and his team started building and preparing the grounds three days before the event -- a tremendous feat.

We also express our appreciation to the City of Carrollton, Carroll County Fiscal Court, for your monetary donation and other support, our local businesses and industry and other area agencies and counties for their substantial monetary support. Without this, we could not provide the Senior Event.

We also want to thank some special groups and individuals who have always supported us. We thank the work of the Carroll County Detention Center for building buildings, other “props” and preparing food for the event. We express our appreciation to the Carroll County Fair Board for providing the tents, tables and chairs. Thank you again for this generous service. We also thank the Carrollton Police Department for providing security and traffic management, the Carrollton Department of Public Works for help in setting up, the Carroll County Ambulance Service and Carroll County Fire Department for emergency protection and Senior Services of Northern Kentucky, Carroll County Senior Center for helping with transportation. We also thank The News- Democrat for your support in many ways to promote and publicize the event. Thank you Ron Holloway for taking all the photos of seniors for their remembrance. We may have not listed everyone who helped, but wish to thank everyone in Carroll County who helped in some way to make this event possible.

The Carroll County Senior Event would not happen if we did not have a dedicated, hard-working planning committee who work hours in planning and executing all aspects for the Senior Event. Thank you, Rhonda Welch, Penny Maiden, Michelle Goff, Mike Humphrey, Vicky Cayton, Mitzie Williams, Ray Clem, Peggy Dellaquilla, Mike Willhoite, Chris Moore, Tim Hendrick, Carolyn Glauber, Rhonda Crutcher, Martha Moorman, Gene McMurry, Laman Stark and Chet Mitchell, a great team of people who again can applaud their hard work.

The Carroll County Senior Event is a total community effort. Thank you everyone in Carroll County who has a part in making it happen.
