A Bedford woman was arrested last week accused of burglarizing multiple homes.
Kayla Danielle Purvis, 20, was arrested Aug. 8 and charged with two felony counts of second-degree burglary and several misdemeanors, including theft of services, third-degree criminal mischief, failure to notify address change and public intoxication by controlled substance.
According to Trimble County Sheriff Tim Coons, who assisted Kentucky State Police Trooper Michael Webb in the arrest, Purvis is accused of breaking into apartments in the Bedford Village neighborhood where she lives. Allegedly, Purvis gained access to the apartments by slicing window screens. Coons declined to say what items may have been taken from the homes.
Purvis was lodged in the Carroll County Regional Detention Center following her arrest. She remains incarcerated with bond set at $5,000 cash.
In other county police news, the Trimble County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a burglary and vandalism at Trimble County Middle School.
Sheriff Tim Coons said school officials reported the burglary Aug. 7 after a window in the school was found broken and syrup was discovered poured on the floor in various areas.
“It doesn’t appear anything was taken from the school,” Coons said. “It looks like they broke in through a window, entered the cafeteria and took the syrup from the kitchen.”
Coons said his office has received several tips in the case and have identified multiple suspects, though no arrests have yet to be made.
“This is felony burglary these individuals are facing. The school [administrators] have said they intend to press charges to the fullest extent of the law in any vandalism or crimes at any of the schools,” he said.
Anyone with information about this case or previous vandalism at Trimble County schools is asked to contact Coons at (502) 255-7138.
